    Google Nest Audio Speaker Review

Wonder if a version 2 is on the horizon soon as this has been out for a number of years. They seemingly put a lot of r&d into this and got good results. If they were able to squeeze out a little bit more performance and actually made it usable with an analogue and/or digital input, or with at...

    Mesanovic CDM65 love?

They are top speakers by almost every metric. But for the price point you are getting into the territory of KH150 + subs, 8341A etc, which obviously have better worldwide ubiquity, brand recognition, and most likely smoother/easier warranty process etc, along with better resale value. Even if...

Master Thread: Are measurements Everything or Nothing?

Well, even that is not even necessary since any recommended amplification device should be transparent, all sound the same, and distortions should be outside of human hearing threshold at normal loads/listening volumes anyway (assuming it is not broken).

Master Thread: Are measurements Everything or Nothing?

I could make the argument that an accurate, well-engineered speaker EQ'd to your preference is almost always going to be a better buy than buying an inferiorly designed speaker that you think might sound better of the box. Esoteric speaker designs aside, I would say make an effort to find the...

Anything with better distortion than Neumann KH150?

The upcoming AcsiLab stuff seems to be really good at 96db https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/ascilab-speakers-are-about-to-launch.54794/page-13

Sonus Faber... the (excellent) Italian design really equal the audio performance?

General rule of thumb for me is that if a company cannot make a decent "cheaper" consumer speaker for the everyman, then they probably don't know how to make good expensive ones. This one for example costs $1300 USD and is unacceptable... There are $150 speakers that perform better than this...

GoldenSounds passes apparently ABX test for DACs (NOT Really)

From a biological perspective, at the edge of any particular hearing threshold one is likely to find quite a high number of metabolically damaged (malfunctioning but not clinically "dead") groups of hair cells within the cochlea. Various types of damage can indeed contribute to perceptible...

    Musician's IEM for singing

I would say use whatever IEM you may already have with whatever foam tips are comfortable for you and EQ to Harman above voice fundamental. If you're looking for a new IEM there's ER2SE or Chinese IEMs ranging from $20-200 on amazon, like Truthear Zero, Truthear Nova, Tangzu Wan'er, Salnotes 7hz...

Second this. Lots of extron switches and stuff out there for dirt cheap.

13 dBHL of hearing loss. Continue using IEMs and headphones?

Just did a quick google image search for "hearing threshold age". But, a normal age-appropriate audiogram does not necessarily mean there is not any hidden hearing loss.

Interesting new Moondrop product- DSP equipped IEM cable

If the base IEM already has a good magnitude response, 3dB is not so bad. The issue is in this case need to apply EQ to a target but also to compensate for some hearing loss, so either a max of 3 dB or 10kHz limit is not going to cut it. I need to get a Qudelix-5k, although I've been holding out...

Interesting new Moondrop product- DSP equipped IEM cable

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Seems like there is still a little while to go before I buy one of these cable dsp dacs then. Each are decent, but both versions have obvious flaws/annoyances.

Is the cdsp just a less "premium" variant? Same specs?

Ubuntu Desktop - safe to disable ufw firewall ?

If it's just for audio, I guess there's no real reason why it can't be disabled if there's nothing on the machine that doesn't need to be secure. The 'proper' way to do things would be to find what ports are causing the problem and then allowing them to pass with ufw if you are so inclined.

Audient iD24 or Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 4th gen?

Personally like MOTU, would wait for measurements on the new gen Scarletts before buying. Topping also has interfaces upcoming.

    Spotify and Qobuz difference

I would say Qobuz and Apple (Japan, if possible), are probably the best options for most people. Personally I use Qobuz because it has the least cons for me. It's one of the platforms that has 3rd party tools for ripping music, has non-MQA hi-res and it also has good integration with various...
