Hi end professional studio monitors vs hi end "hi-fi" speakers

I think your are correct, although I need to do some reading and watching some of Amirs videos. but if my current understanding is correct, that makes the Wilson Alexia at $70.000 pr. a dubious purchase.

Hi end professional studio monitors vs hi end "hi-fi" speakers

I'm not sure I understand. The Stereophile curves were done in a normal room with a system that is supposed to negate the effects of the room right? The reviewer always starts off by saying that the measurements were taken in someones listening room........ so doesn't that negate room effects...

Hi end professional studio monitors vs hi end "hi-fi" speakers

You are partially correct. the first curve is a Klippel curve done by JBL, and indeed it is part of a system that includes a low frequency speaker. The other 3 were done by Stereophile and were measured in room. The revel was measured in 2 different rooms, hence the blue and red trace.

Hi end professional studio monitors vs hi end "hi-fi" speakers

Colleagues, this topic amazes me and frustrates me. I have always thought that the the purpose of any audio system was faithful playback of of the recorded signal. What you hear is the recording. Nothing more, nothing less. I have for the past 40 years, listened to genuine studio monitors with...

Most beautiful speakers in the world ?

IIRC.......The primary industrial designer at JBL was Ken Ashcroft. In my way of thinking he set the bar for design that not only would not only provide performance but had a high WAF. Sadly lacking in many designs.

Most beautiful speakers in the world ?

Colleagues; If there is one thing this thread has proven, is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally I'm drawn to Scandinavian minimalism or form follows function. straight lines and furniture quality wood, mostly teak. The mid century designs of JBL, particularly the L 212 and...

Danny at GR getting bad Talk Back from many of his viewers

Final Thoughts on GR Research; Mr. Richie has taken on the Klipsch Cornwall III and Andrew Jones latest Mofi speaker, with the corresponding crossover updates. I can't help but think that one of these days Mr. Richie is going to step on the wrong foot. One does not go rattlesnake hunting...

    Danny Richie's latest...

I wish to state that I intended no offense to any whom I have inadvertently offended. I learned a long time ago to never denegrate another man's wife, dog, car or in this case, speakers. BUT there is a special place in Hell for those who would manipulate data to further their own gains.

    Danny Richie's latest...

My beef with Mr. Richie is that he trashes a product that has well documented performance measurements and then comes up with his own undocumented improvements. Very scientific. All at the everyday low price of ______(fill in the blanks). Regarding the NX speakers; I've never heard them and I'm...

Colleagues, I have for a long time lusted after the JBL LSR6332 as a replacement for my my JBL 4410 speakers. as such I I occasionally stumble on to a review or test of the LSR 32/6332. I did find a review of them by Danny Richie on the GR Research site. I was surprised and stunned by Mr...
