It was fixed! Just got it today, a 8 legged IC that was dead and a few other components in the pre-amp section were dead, nothig to do with the IC volume controller, happy owner of it now and it sounds good.

My amp is bypassed since I have the IC volume controller dead, thus the volume is maximum set, so I need somehow to reduce the input fornthe volume.

Same question here, can I use a dac between my CD player and the amplifier that is set to maximum volume?

So I can bypass the volume and hook it up directly using maximul volume, basically having no control over the unit. Can I used a DAC and control the volume remorely between the amplifier and my CD player?

Any thoughts?
