LPF 150Hz is quite 'high', probably they wanted to achieve big punch / make subs louder in typical noisy big cinema environment. I have LPF set to 80Hz for example for typical domestic use :)

Exactly, it will be quite expensive combo (2x2502) but definitely worth it! :) Stunning clean bass, I'm really positively surprised by this jbl model. Super musical bass (no resonances, slowness or typical HT subs issues) and even still w/o DSP.

This sub can take plenty of power. Tried as suggested here crown 2502 in bridged mode to single sub and improvement is really audible. Bass has now reference quality, deep, punchy, present, great on low listening volume, also 1st time seen than transducer started go alive (vibrates).

If you have such great / dedicated environment. You need to go to D-class series like mentioned earlier XLS which is super efficient. My problem is more input signal issue and lack of B6 EQ, than lack of power from XLS. XLS bridged with JBL 4645C should shake the house, that is still my assumption.

@sahil fardeen - how you applied B6 filter, was such option embedded into xti 1002 options? I also think the same that such EQ like B6 can increase power demand. It is still very strange to kill the pro-amp on 4645C woofer (super efficient) in domestic environment. Or you have great freedom to...

Seems that xti 1002 is not strong enough to push 4645C :eek:. Were you able at least (when the amp was still fine) achieve high SPL levels and strong and deep bass? :)

Fingers crossed, I already have crown XLS2502 so need to deal with it. Maybe xti series will have some dedicated pre-sets, but from another angle - power is smaller in xti1002 :rolleyes:

I don't writing anything as I don't have yet full blown opinion (haha). I connected both subwoofers to crown xls 2502. Couple of observations for further study: 1. Crown has HPF / LPF filter, so I've set LPF to 80Hz, but lowest value for HPF is 30Hz, that's too high for me for subwoofer use. So...

Has the horizontal version so many drawbacks? I'm considering them as more nearfield monitors, however in quite large 'room' (~30 sq. m ) so they will play behind my normal office desk on the left and right (maybe 2.5m of each other). So it won't be pure mid-field but also not pure nearfield :)...

How about overall "transparency" is the sound (even from S3V) lifelike? How about mid-frequencies? Funny thing is that I'm also considering those Genelecs (Genelec 8361b) as price point (to s3h) is relatively comparable. Are the Genelec's subjectively better sounding?

Obviously not ;) Nevertheless my point is that it is not so obvious to achieve the same quality level from D-class amp like from hi-end power amp. If it would be so easy I would sell Levinson gear (which is big, super heavy and heats my whole room so quickly) and replace by much cheaper crown...

Yes. Pure settings. I'm guessing hiend amps like Levinson or krell can deliver more ampers/better impulse response. Look for example on power cable of krell 350mcx... I'm assuming such thickness is not done only to look nice but for the purpose. I'm saying that in subject listening this crazy...

I have tested this crown amp in typical hi-fi setup. It's OK sound as for PRO standards (so non typical boomy DJ sibilant sound), BUT... there is nowhere close to hi-end AB class amplifiers. I found some rather fanboys opinions on internet that this amp (XLS2502) outperformed krell mono blocks...

I meant eventually without B6 if I will face a challenge to find such settings in crown amp / until I will use some external DSP (actually I haven't plan to be honest, as this setup goes to music more than cinema :)). So in case of music this (+/-) 10Hz should not be that critical. I will...

@Rahan, you are right, but do you feel any bass extension issue in normal listening environment? (=I mean in practice?). Is there such a feeling at all?

P.S. does anybody know if crown xls 2502 has so called B6 alignment? Or do I need still some separate processor?

That was my idea. Especially as I have 2 such subwoofers. Probably amp will come to me after weekend :) it will be interesting.
