Short answer: no Sound stage: if not done already check your room acoustics. Focus on the area left of your left speaker and right of your right speaker: they should be acoustically identical.

I had the same question using a RME ADI2-DAC fs with XLR out to my active speakers and I chose to keep the RME in the setup. Comnection to the WiiM ultra is optical digital.

Get yourself a WiiM mini and connect it using optical out. This is how I am doing it to overcome the Airplay issue with the Ultra.

Using my iPhone 15pro max I have this measurments with my vintage speakers: Sounds much better and cleaner now.

I would stay at least 3dB below clipping, better 5db. No use of running into distortion for measurement purpose.

As long as you don‘t mingle with digital filters or any DSP features (which would be visible in measurement anyway) DAC which measurebthe same do not sound diferent. Maybe the analog stage could have some sounding (e.g. if you have tupe output stage) but you would see this in the measurements...

Same here, I received a second hand WiiM mini and an update was installed today. The device still plays via Airplay.

Please check the priciples of digital tramsmission. The material of any cable will not have effect on the data inside the digital domain - if transmission works. So it is simple: do you hear sound with your USB cable, then it will not get better with any other.

Good point. But to be honest, my setup is quite static. I lived happily with a SONOS Port for years until they screwed the software recently and I now want to switch to another brand. So both WiiM and Eversolo have far more than I need. Not sure about upcoming software improvements from either...

Question: apart from price would you prefer the Eversolo DMP-A8 over WiiM Ultra? I am struggling which to use in future. My complete cable setup is symmetrical and using the DMP-A8 would avoid a RCA - XLR device (Funk SAM 1C).

Just recieved Sedna Earfit Xelastec in M, ML and L. The L size fits perfect for me and creates a good seal. Bass performcne is now as expected.
