Interesting question. In genereral it should be possible to use multitone for evaluation. There is little data on measurement microphone distortion. So it is probably hard to distinguish between headphone and microphone distortion. Would be great if anybody here could contribute with experience...

Much is right in the above writings. To make it clear, I do not recommend to use lead/tin solder, it was just my personal experience. YouTube audio quality is wide spread depending on the recording process from smartphone to mixer take. But what is the audio quality worth for me on the above videos when I don't like the music and the artist? Therefore I have to take the audio quality as it is when I like the music.

My experience with silver solder (and lead free one) is that it does not flow so nice as the old good lead/tin one which I still use. You should try different solder tip temperatures for a good connection.

Using just one triode system as a preamp is questionable. Distortion will be built in if not used as a buffer with no gain. Better to use a solid triode/pentode combination circuit with some feedback to get low distortion and low output impedance. And, the ECF801 is a tube for high frequency...

My STAX electrostats may enhance upper frequencies which in turn will emit probably more of the distortions of a poor recording. But this just shows the poor recording better recognizable but still is a poor thing. If a strictly linear tuned system does not show that much of the distortions...

Yes indeed. Listen your records with a electrostatic headphone then you hear instantly which are bad records. Doing it on my system via loudspeakers the differences are also readable but maybe not so much.
