2-way 10'' speaker with swappable waveguides for constant/linear directivity

@Scgorg: I have recently built a relatively controlled directivity system (just for relatively lower SPL levels based home use and not PA). :) Details are below. The system uses the following drivers at the moment.. The horn + CD combo keeps changing frequently. (Also, I have a bad, echo...

Most beautiful speakers in the world ?

Yes.. The drivers are nearly in phase below 100Hz causing Omni directional radiation and out of phase above causing cancellation and the cardioidish polar pattern :)

Horn Speakers - Is it me or.......

At least on this particular horn, there are some side effects.. :) In the above measurements, I used only the drivers at the top and bottom and not the ones on the sides. I had closed the mid taps on the side walls using cellophane tape.. Here are more details about the impact of taps...

Horn Speakers - Is it me or.......

Thanks to people like Marcel (and others) who have given away horn/waveguide design software (ATH) for free, one can do good DIY system designs (with good horns/waveguides) easily, at home these days. Here is a simple example of what one can cook up at home on a small PC at home in a few hours...

Along with ATH horns, for those obsessed with constant directivity, some very interesting horn/waveguide designs can be found here: 1) https://audiohorn.net/x-shape-horn/ Other interesting horns are discussed here too: 2)https://sphericalhorns.net/2024/04/27/a-new-coherent-radial-fin-horn/

SB Acoustics Satori WO24TX-4 Driver review published on audioxpress, Anyone using it yet or plans to use?

Javad has recently made a version of the Helios using the WO24Tx driver: https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/heliostxspeaker One needs to be a member of DIYLoudspeakerProjectPad group to view the details though

SB Acoustics Satori WO24TX-4 Driver review published on audioxpress, Anyone using it yet or plans to use?

I have a pair of WO24Ps per side on my speaker. It is a configurable bass-mid module that plays different roles. DSP crossed over around 300Hz in a 3way configuration and crossed over around 1.2kHz in a 2way speaker configuration. In that setup, the top end is handled by a BMS 4550 CD on an...

Danny at GR getting bad Talk Back from many of his viewers

Thanks for the nice explanation. Unless I am wrong, it seems like a typo has crept in at multiple places w.r.t open baffle speaker radiation pattern. Also dont know if this has been pointed out in this thread earlier. I think all "cardioid" words have to replaced by "dipole".

A Cardioid mid Coax 3 way speaker

So the following is the general idea I had in mind with the C-C spacing :) First, the free standing waveguide should be allowed to do its job properly. That needs bit of space. Then, the intended crossover with the horn may occur somewhere in between 600-800Hz. The driver Centre-to-Centre...

A Cardioid mid Coax 3 way speaker

I decided to scale up the cardioid mid-concept a little bit more.. ;) Design iteration v2 for a big cardioid box (for Faital Pro15PR400) + EXAR 400 waveguide :D The box is only about 26cm deep from the 'baffle surface' (whatever little there is). A potential accompanying spatially distributed...

A Cardioid mid Coax 3 way speaker

So this speaker started out as a relatively low-output PC speaker build. :) A larger woofer than 7-8 inches was never in the picture while the design was thought about simply because I didn't have the space to accommodate bigger speakers. But then things became more exciting, and I decided to...

A Cardioid mid Coax 3 way speaker

Actually, a cardioid enclosure can give more output than the same driver in a sealed enclosure down to a certain frequency.. ;) Take a look here and the following post :) https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/a-3-way-design-study.376620/post-7343076 In my case, there is some other...

A Cardioid mid Coax 3 way speaker

oops, I forgot to say that two of the output channels connected to the woofer driver, on my audio interface have gone bad.. :D It has constant 2% THD across full spectrum. This might definitely have some effect on that 300Hz bump. Need to get a better interface...

A Cardioid mid Coax 3 way speaker

@sigbergaudio: My coax is crossed over at 300Hz..Probably this has an effect too. About the mic, I have no idea how good it is for distortion measurements.. By the way the distortion measurement was done using the Sonarworks soundID mic and not minidsp umik-1. My UMIK-1 has other issues, So I...
