New low-cost DSP platform in development

There is a huge difference between "desktop Linux" like you might use on a PC or Raspberry Pi and "appliance Linux" where you see nothing except the appliance functions. The idea is that my DSP devices would have the latter so you don't have to worry about "Linux stuff" at all :)

New low-cost DSP platform in development

There may also be a cheaper, bare bones version available with just the built-in stereo audio, and you use the USB port to plug in "real" hardware that you already have. So why not just buy a Pi Zero instead in that case? Because like the regular version with optical in/out, this will be a...

    Any Unit Better than this?

I just found this one after a little looking: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/smsl-dl100-dac-and-headphone-amp-review.56507/ This market is so competitive that most options will be great, so just check if the features other than XLR and headphone ports fit your needs...

    Any Unit Better than this?

Since you're using a PC, you could save megabuck$ by just getting something good at both headphones and line output, like a Motu M2/M4/UltraLite (I use a M2), or any one of the many other great options reviewed here. Is there a reason you want the EverSolo in particular?

    Audio Precision APx516B Review

Why would ANYONE buy this when a Cosmos ADC is just as good at 30x cheaper cost?

    Optical audio splitter

What would your complete setup look like? I think you could get away with a single bluetooth transmitter + 2 receivers so you wouldn't need an optical splitter which might not be the best/cheapest option.

Also check out the Motu UltraLite Mk5 which DOES have both optical in and out as well as chart topping performance!

I just got a 3D printer: how about a custom plastic case, or maybe a carbon fiber one? Do any DACs use anything other than metal?

What should the reference(s) be in measurements?

How about Apple Dongle instead of Razer Adapter? "Everybody" knows what that dongle is like and "everybody" can afford one but most people don't even know that Razer is primarily one of the biggest mouse makers, much less that they have audio adapters.

Are there many HiFi speakers with nominal 4 ohm impedance?

4 ohm speakers appear to be common for PA (or at least they were, since most new ones are active) and the ones I have in my gym setup are 4 ohm but sometimes dip below even that. I'd say they're more common than 8 ohms because it allows (or allowed with older designs) for more amp power.

    E1DA Cosmos ADCiso Review

Do you think it might be worth upgrading to a grade A from B? I have a B on order (not shipped yet) and I'm so anxious about missing out on the extra SNR.

New low-cost DSP platform in development

There is still the problem of no low-cost integrated appliance. There's miniDSP but their cheapest complete option is $225, and the Hifiberry options are around that much too and neither of these options support both digital/analog in/out.

There is no reason these all features couldn't be added except for Roon because that's closed source and they don't support RISC-V.

But you can't use any effect you want and you still need external hardware and a case to make it look nice, which is too much fuss for many people including me.

I never claimed it would be using the built in audio, just whatever's plugged into USB which could be anything so it's not included in the price.
