I'm thinking of buying a L70 as my main headphone amp. I very much like its aesthetics and features. The only thing holding me back from buying one is Topping's questionable reliability as regards its headphone amps. Topping's A70 Pro and A90 Discrete seem to have a lot of reports on this forum...

I see that my earlier post # 600 created some confusion over whether or not the SMSL d6s could do "DSD Direct" as asked by Glennza. Perhaps I too should apologise! I thought he/she meant "can the d6s process DSD bypassing volume control and Sigma Delta Modulation?", not just "not DSD over PCM"...

Others familiar with your SMSL M8 may be able to reply to your first query. But as regards your additional question, no the SMSL d-6s will not be able to do DSD Direct since it is ESS Sabre based. [No DAC with ESS Sabre chipset can do DSD Direct].

I couldn't agree more. The display is hideous and the chrome around the knob tacky. (Subjective opinions, I know...). Look at the different feature sets of the two DAC's and see which best suits your requirements as they will in all likelihood sound the same. [I would choose the E50 as I'm not interested in B/T but do want balanced outputs but, of course, that's just me].
