My phone has a 5Ah battery that can easily play YouTube from wifi continuously for two 8 hour days. It should be better with wifi turned off and streaming from a 1tb tf card. Remote control from a headphone control. I expect battery life will be substantially better, once I install lineageos.

Moode audio on an rPi is a nice platform. Remote control with a phone or any web browser. It has had a few glitches but they are developing it quickly and 7.4.1 works like a champ.

I have one of the original D50s and it has functioned perfectly. Would you happen to have a newer AMD system with 5xx chipset? There have been a lot of issues with USB disconnect on those platforms and AMD is investigating. I expect a fix will be out soon.

Does Topping have an over-demand issue? I need another DAC and just assumed I would pick up another P50/D50s/A50s stack but the P50 is no longer bundled with either component and prices have gone up 50%. At this point, I'm thinking of going with a DX7 Pro for about the same price.

The task at hand seems best suited to LAME with a VBR MP3 target. You should achieve surprisingly good quality and VBR will produce much smaller files than 320Kbps fixed rate encodings. Personally, I'd leave the quality level high and let VBR do it's thing. I'll bet you will be pleasantly...
