As an AVM 70 8k owner, I came to this forum to learn more about the AVM 90 and how it might differ from the 70. I left with thinking that when I add another amp for more height/surround channels, that I should go with Monolith's 7 channel amp vs Emotiva's 6 channel amp. Did I do it right?

For those of us that are expecting (AVM 70 on backorder), will the unit to ship with these firmware updates applied, or should I expect to spend some time allowing the unit to update when I set it up?

Yeah that's where I'm at now. Looking at the Monolith 5 channel amp. Might upgrade that amp way down the line to something from Anthem or Rotel, but it seems many forum members speak highly of the Monolith

Oof. Yeah that would trigger a return for me. I'm ordering through Crutchfield and don't have the time or patience to go through replacing fans of a $3.5k unit lol. If this issue exists in the AVM70 when I order it, I'll send it back and have them send me another one, just see if I can get lucky...

I mean, fans will make noise but there are ways to implement them so they have such low noise-floor, it's going to be fine for 99% of use cases. Sounds like there is a both an implementation problem, and a use of mediocre fans. Anyone with a gaming PC understands this issue.

It's pretty sad that a $20 USB fan is solving problems Anthem has seemingly failed to address. People are paying a lot of money for these units. Absurd to have to plug in a fan to avoid noise.

Unless I'm getting confused, that's a different product than the AVC (monolith amp modules, made in Japan etc) ETA: they are probably the same product.
