    Genelec 8030C Studio Monitor Review

IIRC, the genelec 7360 would work nicely with the 8030, as it has an integrated low pass filter. And GLM for the bass. As explained elsewhere, compensation below Schroeder frequency should be sufficient, with good speakers. Surely the 7360 is above my desired budget. Not sure anymore, but I...

Marantz MODEL M1 Wireless Streaming Amplifier

Right, I see multiple references to AX5689. It is bridged design, corresponding to the 4 big coils, two for each channel. However, the driver chip you mention only does 1.5 Ampere. More is needed to drive a 100 watts.

Marantz MODEL M1 Wireless Streaming Amplifier

Fairly sure this has the TPA3255 inside, like the WiiM, quite good specs.

    Marantz Model 10 integrated amplifier

Oops, big mistake, I mixed up with Marantz M1, which has tpa3255. Not sure what happened here, was I too drunk, or too sober ;-) Model 10 is different

    Marantz Model 10 integrated amplifier

The internals reveal a bridged design, four coils, no visible power fets. Certainly not a discrete design, two dicsrete amplifiers per channel are more expensive than a symmetrical PSU. I would guess the TI based TPA3255 is inside, single chip bridged stereo. Like the WiiM Amp has. Respectable...

    Genelec 8030C Studio Monitor Review

I experienced hum as well. Providing proper earth (or ground, how is it called) to the mains power solved this, as I did not use XLR symmetrical input. I use cinch connected to the XLR.

    Genelec 8030C Studio Monitor Review

As far as I know, the genelec 8030 uses fairly high end drivers, and a not so cheap enclosure. The woofer seems to be a customized peerless chassis, based on peerless SDS series. The tweeter is genelec's own design and make. Somewhere I read on that tweeter, from a genelec engineer. Not sure if...

    Genelec 8030C Studio Monitor Review

I doubt that are "many superior speakers", I would guess that the 8030 is in the top 2%. And for the price, yes, real hard to beat.

    Genelec 8030C Studio Monitor Review

I looked at a used SVS, but the not pro. Already got rid of the 305's long ago. Still need to do a REW measurement with the sub connected, and correction with the DSP in my el-cheapo arylic streamer.... The ADAM T10s has a footswitch to disable it, and pass through. Would be beneficial for a...

    Genelec 8030C Studio Monitor Review

I had the JBL305mk2 before the genelec 8030. Big improvement for me, clarity, better bass, and much less resonances. I use an ADAM t10s subwoofer now with integrated high pass filter. Nice improvement, but less than I hoped or expected. Surely more loud, and more bass. For lower listening...

    Genelec 8030C Studio Monitor Review

Same here, dead silent (but not in the country side). Possibly, some people have issues with the XLR connection, or their other equipment. More problematic for me was the power connection. When not using proper symmetrical XLR, these 8030's produce quite some humm, unless they have proper...

    Genelec 8030C Studio Monitor Review

As far as I know, the 8030A does not go as low as the 8030C. Also lower SPL. Genelec web site has docs for the legacy products. https://www.genelec.com/previous-models

    Genelec 8030C Studio Monitor Review

The following concepts are somewhat independent: Costs of the parts (excluding marketing, research, design, manufacturing, testing, logistics etc), retail price, and value. For me, the value of the 8030's exceeds the retail price, by a significant margin. Great sound, very compact, and...

Better speakers than my current genelec 8030c for nearfield

Possibly, you hear the harmonics, and feel the 18hz.

    Genelec 8030C Studio Monitor Review

Any el-cheapo mike stand with 3/8 inch will do, e.g. https://www.bax-shop.nl/tafel-instrument-microfoon-statief/innox-iva-06-desktop-microfoonstandaard The genelecs up to 8x3x have 3/8 inch thread. The 8x4x models have 10mm thread. Removing the isopod makes it nicer.

This is not Genelec specific. Did you Read The Fine Links? Did you read the Genelec 8030 manual?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthing_system https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEC_60320 Check the IEC C13 plug, genelec needs the earthing, also for safety.

    Genelec 8030C Studio Monitor Review

If you think these speakers are overpriced, why buy? Go for something else. Its a free world. These speakers are marketed for studio use. If you want RCA, buy the G three. (or buy the 10 dollar cable...) Well, I read GLM is a godsend. I use DIY corrections with REW measurements and a DSP. Also...

Do you have proper earthing on the mains of the Genelec 8030 speakers?

    Genelec 8030C Studio Monitor Review

I use these Genelecs to listen to music and radio ;-) In my living room, no issues with the noise. Really close, there is some noise, but in my case, I was much more irritated with the hum. I used asymmetrical input without earthing on the speaker mains. These speakers do need proper earthing...
