    Sennheiser HD650 Review (Headphone)

My cable is a bit shorter, so you could say that improves the signal quality.

    Sennheiser HD650 Review (Headphone)

Well I guess you are right. The stock cable was fine, and sounded great. But my cable is a bit shorter which means I’m not going to roll my chair over it, and I definitely noticed an increase in the bass and a little more width to the sound.

    Bad soldering

Is bad soldering a threat to sound quality? I made my own Sennheiser headphone cable from Mogami 2543 and it works, but should I be concerned that my amateur soldering work might impact the performance of the cable?

    Sennheiser HD650 Review (Headphone)

I just got a used pair of HD650's after not owning them for awhile and found an old HD650 cable I made from Mogami 2543. I plugged it in and felt a possible improvement. The sound feels deeper, more clear, bigger but also slightly darker.

What's a good headphone for an OTL tube amp?

I got the HD650's today and they sound great! I can turn them up more without as much fatigue and the sound is very immersive. EDIT: I found an old HD650 cable I made from Mogami 2543. I plugged it in and felt a possible improvement.

What's a good headphone for an OTL tube amp?

What's a good headphone for my Antique Sound Lab MG-Head OTL MK3 amp? I'm currently using DT990-600's and am considering Sennheiser HD650's since I'm looking for a darker sound. Is there anything else I should be looking for?

SMSL filters mislabeled on ES9039 DACs

I have the DO100 Pro. What's filter setting #1? It sounds the smoothest, at least compared to 4.

    Are tubes more musical?

What is it that I’m hearing in my tube preamp and tubed headphone amp that is so romantic, warm, soft around the edges, and smooth, even syrupy sometimes? I’m not talking about hybrid amps or tube buffers. (My headphone amp is an OTL design, my preamp has no transistors in the audio circuit.) Do...

    Passive volume control vs attenuators

I found out the input sensitivity of the AI Modulus 3 is 9 volt RMS (I have the 2c, but this should be comparable?) so I shouldn't need attenuators. I simply turned the two volume knobs down 3 notches from 9 o'clock to 2 notches from the bottom. This is the maximum volume I need, and then I just...

    Passive volume control vs attenuators

The Modulus 3 pre-amp states Maximum Input: 9v rms for high level section. Although I have the earlier Modulus 2, it makes me think I shouldn't worry about this if I'm not hearing distortion.

    Passive volume control vs attenuators

the DAC has a volume setting that goes between 1-99. I canceled the order for the attenuators, and just turned down the pre-amp (just 2 notches from bottom) and turned up the DAC to 99. I'm not noticing any distortion right now, which is good. I can reduce the volume with the DAC remote if...

    Passive volume control vs attenuators

So there should be no improvement using attenuators? Right now I play around 50 on the volume, I'm hoping I can play between 75-100 with the attenuators, so that there is less bit loss.

    Passive volume control vs attenuators

12dB attenuators or passive volume control? Which is better to reduce hot DAC output without bit loss?

When is a lower voltage DAC better?

I’m thinking of trying the H pads. What should I look for? 12dB I’m thinking.

SMSL DO100 PRO - HDMI ARC DAC

What's the danger of my DO100 Pro playing full blast for some reason? I use the digital volume and generally keep it at 50% so 100% would be way too loud and be really bad. I've heard of "Topping events" but not really heard of people having problems with this unit. Should I be worried? I...

    Audible Illusions Modulus

Yes, 2Ce Sig II's. I'm running four amps to power them, utilizing the four pre-outs of the Modulus. I'm trying to figure out if I'm okay impedance-matching wise. I believe the four pre-outs on the Modulus 2 are the same (unlike the Modulus 3).

    Audible Illusions Modulus

On the Modulus 2C, is the tape input the same as aux input (and tuner input?) Are the two sets of pre outs the same? Is there a change in impedance when both sets are connected at the same time?

When is a lower voltage DAC better?

I'm using an Audible Illusions Modulus 2c now and it adds a lot of gain. When I turn my DAC up all the way it gets way too loud with barely any motion on the knob and the sound isn't good. So I lower the DAC to around 50-60 and turn the pre-amp up to 9 o'clock and the sound is much better.
