Aside from whether it can be justified, small lots of wire have to have manufacturing costs. I read on this very site that manufacturing costs are typically 10 percent of retail price.

Sonos Port has coax out, so sound quality can go at least to CD quality. I don’t know the cheapest configuration, but Sonos makes speakers specifically intended as surround speakers.

Spotify does that for me, and I’ve only recently gotten into streaming. No one seems to mention this, but for people married a long time, nostalgia music is a bit more than music.
