    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

To me, the dramatic difference he hears, to the point of sounding unnatural, could be due to some hardware issue with his particular 3800 that is covered up when all the speakers are in play.

    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

I have the 3800 and can hear the difference between DACs, but certainly not to the point of a modern DAC sounding unnatural. For music, differences tend to be in warmth and AKM DACs sound warmer to me than ESS. Depending on the music, say techno vs a cappella singing, different DACs have their...

    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

In addition to what Karl said I think Audyssey doesn’t apply EQ to the transducer output like it does to sub out. I actually find the 40hz lpf too high. Would like it at 20Hz because my SVS subs have high output at 20Hz, l would like the Buttkicker to handle the 5Hz-20Hz. Currently accomplishing...

Audirect/Hilidac Beam 2SE Review (Portable Headphone Adapter)

I have been using the Beam 2SE for more than a year on my iPhone 13 mini with my Klipsch X20i earphones. Its a neat solution to play DSD files on the iPhone as it supports DSD over DOP. I use the Onkyo HF Player ($10) to play the files. Its useful to carry all my ripped SACDs on the iPhone.

    Exciting news from Onkyo and Pioneer: TX-RZ70/ VSX-LX705, TX-RZ9/VSX-LX905 = Auro 3D + DLBC!

We don't, but that's what Onkyo says in their press release

    Exciting news from Onkyo and Pioneer: TX-RZ70/ VSX-LX705, TX-RZ9/VSX-LX905 = Auro 3D + DLBC!

Sounds like a major error not to have 4 independent sub outs on a Flagship. Denon/Marantz must be pleased

    Denon AVR-X4800H AVR Review

I think there is a cost to Dirac porting their software to the Denon/Marantz processor. They have done this for Dirac Live and are selling it now. DLBC is not finished yet and they are undecided on ART. It could be that they are looking at the Dirac Live sales to decide on whether it is worth it...

    Denon AVR-X4800H AVR Review

I would lean to sample variation as Amir only tested one sample of each and that does not make for a general conclusion. In the 3800 review, it seems he did consult the Denon people and seemed to come away that they did not seem surprised by his 3800 results. Production in Vietnam may also be...

    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

Wonder if there is a multichannel amp with two sets of inputs, one for the Denon pre-amp out and the other for my Panasonic UHD player (and your multichannel DAC)

    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

https://h-m-entertainment.com/denon-avr-x3800h-review A new review of the 3800 above. The main thing I did not know is support this year for Sony's 360 Reality Audio, which is now available on Tidal. Not quite sure how it will work. Perhaps the Tidal app with Denon over Airplay2? or using HEOS...

    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

If I am to understand Amir's methodology for receivers' SINAD, he adjusts the volume until he gets 2 volts on the RCA and in the case of his 3800 review, he set the volume at 82.5 in order to get 2V, where he measured 87 SINAD Later he has a chart that shows for optimal output, he gets 95 SINAD...

    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

Thanks for a most interesting view. Assuming I don't return the X3800H when I get it, I will certainly try turning off MRC and any curve. My issue in the past has been listening to a cappella voices and jazz strings, where I notice the most difference in crispness. If I keep the X3800H, perhaps...

    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

The issue from my understanding is that once I enable Audyssey, the X3800H will take my analog 2 channel input and redigitize it, process and then output it thought is lower quality DAC

    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

I'm pretty sensitive to degraded a cappella vocals, so I might be among the few. My path will be WIIM Mini->optical->Topping D90->analog->X3800H->KEF speakers. Would the X3800H be worse than having a X3700H in the chain? I'm not sure how to interpret all of Amir's measurements especially how...

    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

Agreed for home theater usage. My 20 year old Yamaha's YPAO was admittedly primitive, but I did carefully manually correct the subwoofer output with a real time analyzer (TrueRTA) about 17 years ago, a professional microphone and an ancient equalizer called a Behringer Bass Feedback Destroyer...

    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

Absolutely agree with you and good to hear that movie sound might be ok. Just that I need something now and can't get Onkyo or Pioneers here, and anything other brand with full HDMI 2.1 outs is more expensive. I sort of like that its upgradable in the future and something I can continue to...

    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

I do notice that for a cappella vocals and jazz singers that there is a clear difference between an AVR applying RoomEQ (or indeed any processing) vs Pure Direct mode. The difference is sufficient that I generally never listen to 2 channel music processed, no matter what the strength of the...

    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

Do you know if the 3800's SINAD at the preamp output is worse than the 3700? Which AVR brand would be the best?

    Denon AVR-X3800H Review

I don't disagree that a dedicated stereo amp does better than an AVR and indeed I have a similar setup to yours in another room. However, I often listen to Tidal in the home theater for convenience and I think an external DAC/streamer (which I already have) will solve the 3800's 2 channel...
