    Capacitor question

Even if the the measurements slightly change a bit I don’t mind. Like I said caps are identical replacements so I’m not worried about affecting anything when my aim is to actually increase its life time with quality parts. I’m not sprinkling over audiophile magic dust I’m doing it for peace of...

    Capacitor question

I didn’t think I would need to make a measurement of the amplifier after capacitor change? after all they are identical value replacements just better quality.

    Capacitor question

Just popping in again with another question for the diy experts, can two capacitors be touching? Some replacements I have found are a mm or 2 wider.

    Capacitor question

Thanks for the help, ive decided to go with Panasonic FM caps and have the whole lot re done. Panasonics appear to fit perfectly in the Teapos places where as others like Elna Silmic would be far too big.

Oh absolutely a cost cutting measure for sure that's why I want them gone. Every one is a teapo.

    Capacitor question

there's only 4 NP caps ones at the rear by the XLR RCA inputs are 100uf 16v its the 2 at the front that are specced at 10uf 63v that I can't find any replacements for

    Capacitor question

It’s only 6 years old so not grey yet but I just wanted to take out the teapos and put in something higher quality for longevity and piece of mind. Because of close inspect and your comments I’ve been able to figure out most of them are polar and (gold/black) and 4 (plain black) are non polar...

    Capacitor question

How do I tell if an electrolytic capacitor is polar or non polar by eye? I want to replace some caps in a headphone amplifier and I know someone who can do the soldering for me but I’m struggling to identify what parts I need. So far I’ve totalled up the amount of caps needed and their values.

What type of filter is this?

Thanks for the response, I hear it’s great when used in crossovers but when it comes do DA conversion is it still good enough to do the job or should I look at external converter with a better filter?

What type of filter is this?

Thanks for the link but a lot of this stuff goes over my head, I’m assuming it’s a type of slow linear phase then?

What type of filter is this?

My Cambridge Audio amplifier implements a wolfson DAC using a 2 pole Butterworth filter, i have never heard of it before with it not being named like what we see with linear, minimum etc. I have looked around online and I am not really sure what it is exactly. If anyone could help me understand...

    Chord mojo 2 volume lossless?

I’ve been having issues lately with my new amplifier (NAD C316BEE v2) any source with fixed volume I plug in is too loud and can’t go past 9 on the dial without attenuators. A friend has let me use his mojo 2 for a while and it has adjustable volume so now I have a huge range to work with and...

Inline attenuator detrimental to sound quality?

If im listening through optical out of my Sony TV I have the option limit the output which is currently set to max but can be adjusted from 100-0 any source i've tried though has the same problem with high gain.

Inline attenuator detrimental to sound quality?

The problem is without attenuation the volume range is only between about 8 and 9 because 6-7 has right channel imbalance, there barely and movement between quiet and loud and can't use the remote because of it. with 20db attenuators inline I can move al the way up to 1 o'clock before it gets...
