REW instructions to test subwoofer compression on burst tones

Hello, could anyone kindly point me to some laymen-level instructions to use REW to check if my subwoofer is compressing burst tones at my typical listening volume? I do not mean long-term (swipe-like) compression, I already know it compresses a fair bit in the long term test. But will it...

Thank you. What is the recommended distance for diffusion?

    Small Room Treatment

So, reading back the suggestions I get quite confused. Should I use broadband absorption at first reflection points, or diffusion, or both, or nothing? I would not mind increasing clarity a little now that the centre image is fixed.

    Small Room Treatment

I think I found the reason of the soundstage being constantly shifted to the right. Cheap hearing test shows a sizeable gap between my right ear (red line) and left one (blue line). After some trial and error I compensated by increasing the right channel affected frequencies by 1\4 of the gap...

do you mean corner bass traps, or to fill the nooks next to the fireplace where the subs are with membrane bass traps? Note that there is a window in the left nook

Thank you. I extended spectro and added clarity. Note that some of the previous graph were for the left channel only (now they are all correct for LR).

Really sorry, I realized that some charts were for the left channel only. I have now replaced these with the correct ones for both speakers. I also added ETC and extended Spectro to 10 Hz. I would be very grateful if you all could check if your previous comments still apply.

    Small Room Treatment

Hello, I am hoping that those of you with knowledge of room treatment could spare some advice. I am setting up a system in the room shown in the diagrams below. ROOM The room is not large being 470cm L x 340cm W x 330cm H. It has a brick wall on the left, front, and back, and a plaster wall on...

Are XLR cables with wall plugs ok for active speakers?

Thank you but I guess my question was, what if I use 110ohms XLR cables under the floor, rather than standard XLRs. Will the fact that there are 2 plug connections along the way become important if I wanted to send a digital signal through that cable? If not, I might as well install 110 ohm...

Thank you. Does all of this also applies to AES EBU cables?

Are XLR cables with wall plugs ok for active speakers?

Hi all, I am going to have to move my music source across the room and the XLR cables to my active speakers will have to go through a doorway, which is not possible. So I am planning to run the cables underfloor and place XLR plugs in the wall at each end. Is this (i.e. two XLR connectors along...

SVS SB-3000 vs. KEF KC62...which would you choose for same price?

Yes Dirac assumed linearity, so creating different listening profiles for different levels is exactly what I have done and works great. Regardless of using the KC62, having different profiles based on the listening level will also allow you to do bass compensation properly.

Genelec 8341A SAM™ Studio Monitor Review

Yes and I did equalise it further. Was NOT flat down to 10hz. It does compress below 40hz but it's not that audible. I might add a second one

Genelec 8341A SAM™ Studio Monitor Review

After further testing, it turns out it was partially an extension issue. Crossing to the sub at 40Hz with 48db BW obtained almost the same effect on the "punch" as crossing it at 80Hz with mild slope. FYI, this is the low frequencies with and without KC62, post EQ, in my 45m3 room

REW not separating L and R

Problem solved. In a recent update, windows installed an audio platform named Max Audio Pro. The default setting of this thing has some degree of crosstalk between left and right channel. You all might want to make sure that the thing is disabled.
