Master "deals" (massdrop, ebay, Amazon, etc.) Thread on Audio Product Sales

They are good, and the fit is excellent. Whether they are $700 good is another question, they are certainly $349 good. For $149 the IE200 is quite similar, particularly if you use different tips or wrap/seal the nozzle to defeat the bass leak gimmick. Fit on that is identical. I don't think the...

Master "deals" (massdrop, ebay, Amazon, etc.) Thread on Audio Product Sales

Yes, very possibly, it was a big discount. They were $349 for a few hours at least. I posted it on Reddit as well, several people got them at $349, hopefully they'll honor the price.

    Hifiman Arya Review (headphone)

I'd be interested to see what the measured difference between those is, if any. I don't think it's really a big issue for them to tweak stuff if it doesn't change the sound, and Hifiman do seem to have remarkable consistency in hitting their target response, even with different headphones.

    Hifiman Arya Review (headphone)

At least Hifiman actually rebrand the headphones and call them V1, V2, V3/Stealth, Organic. You do know what you're actually getting with Hifiman, you know if it's an Arya V2 or an Arya Stealth or an Arya Organic. Unlike for example Audeze where they don't tell you and aren't even consistent...

    Hifiman Arya Review (headphone)

They're the same diaphragm branding, the Arya Stealth box has that same gold "Nanometer Thickness Diaphragm" sticker on it. My understanding, that has been the same diaphragm since V1, there are reviews from 2018 referencing the "Nanometer Thickness Diaphragm" and it's also mentioned on the...

TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero IEM Review

Tanchjim Tanya DSP may be a another good option for Zero fans. Small bullet style, USB C, DSP in the DAC which does 16/44.1 up to 24/96 with no noise floor. Sounds great. $24 MSRP but I paid $11.50 on Shopee (SE Asia) after discounts. These measurements are my Tanya vs Timmy's Zero, my Zero has...

Truthear x Crinacle Zero:RED IEM Review

Harman over-ear used a large cohort of people and was extensively researched, peer reviewed and published. Harman OE has extremely broad acceptance, a lot of people in the headphone community (reviewers, enthusiasts, etc) like it. Harman in-ear used 10-15 people internal to Harman, was not peer...

Truthear x Crinacle Zero:RED IEM Review

Aful looks smoother to me. The wobbles in the Aful are very low variances and are not audible to me. I haven't heard the Red yet but the resonance peaks are a lot higher, it goes both higher in the peaks and and lower in the dips. I don't think the Red looks enormously problematic or anything...

Is LDAC lossy or bit-perfect for 44.1kHz/16bit (Red Book CD) files?

My understanding, it does actually have the sense to reserve most of the bits for the lower (audible) frequency bands when encoding a Hi-Res signal, it doesn't allocate half the bits to encoding 24-48kHz in 96kHz signal, it's using relatively few bits for that entire region. Subjectively, I...

    Moondrop Lab

I think the treble is quite smooth. There is an insertion resonance which for me is 7.5kHz which is around where it is for me for most IEMs with a normal insertion depth. It's smoother than most IEMs through that though. This is what most measurebators standardise at 8kHz, I get it at 7.5kHz...

    Moondrop Lab

I think the main differences are going to be the bass and the way Etymotic handles the ear gain and highs, slightly shouty and then slightly dark, but also smooth treble. Plus obviously the insertion differences. You will get an insertion resonance on the Lan lower than you will the Etymotic...

    TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero Red

It's actually a pretty good introduction to audio science as relates to headphones and is mostly correct. This is the frustrating thing with him, he actually has a good understanding of much of it, but is also needlessly contrarian and trolly. He has a tendency to be very binary in his thinking...

Truthear x Crinacle Zero:RED IEM Review

In terms of they supported his graph database as a community outreach and advertise on his site. They don't sell this IEM, or any other Crinacle collab IEM. The channel has editorial independence and has a track record of being perfectly able to criticize stuff they do sell, and often do laud...

Truthear x Crinacle Zero:RED IEM Review

https://www.amazon.com.au/TRUTHEAR-Crinacle-Zero-Dynamic-Headphone/dp/B0C5QWMGM6 A$82.99 It's a Shenzhen Audio exclusive, so it won't be available anywhere else, other than "Truthear Official Store" on Ali, which I suspect may very well be run by Shenzhen Audio as well, similar to how Leiyin...

TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero IEM Review

Upper midrange reduction, specifically. It has more lower midrange than the Zero has and I think will sound more rather than less midrange forward. I'd see it as reduction in upper mids (which to me is a positive) and a smoother glide down from the sub-bass, with more mid-bass (also a positive...

Quality of headphone amp in AV receivers

It depends on the device, but it's often an afterthought and very bad. A common issue is very high output impedance which will change the tonality of many headphones. My understanding, this can happen if the headphone output it derived from the main speaker output just with attenuation. High...

TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero IEM Review

They both fit me fine but they are very similar. Nozzle dimensions are identical, and quite wide (5.7 / 6.7mm on the lip) which some people have issues with. Not as big as something like the Blessing 2 / Variations but on the wide side.

    Headphones and Parametric EQ

EQ APO is open source, so at least theoretically you (and others) can review the source code, although I realize in practice that rarely happens. It is the predominant EQ software on Windows, though, with a LOT of users, so if anything I'd tend to think it's less likely to be malicious than just...

64 Audio tia Trió IEM Review

@Zerviscos mine, the nozzle doesn't go past the end of the tips, doesn't look like it does on yours either though. It's not a problem though even if it does go past, it does on the ER4XR. Theoretically if anything it might reduce resonances and push the insertion peak higher, if it allows for...
