    Schiit Loki Mini+ Equalizer Review

The quest for my hyper speaker - Very Large room dilemma

I haven't read the whole thread, but have the (discontinued) Dali Megalines made an appearance? It comes as stacked modules so in theory the sky is the limit.... Looks domestically acceptable for a large speaker. https://www.dali-speakers.com/nl/discontinued/megaline/megaline-iii/

    WiiM Mini Review (Streamer)

Welcome to ASR, vik.os. You might want to look at this thread I've linked (forum member Vintage Flanker's measurements of the WiiM Pro). There is extended discussion in the thread about digital clipping that can happen with the WiiM streamers in fixed (100%) output mode when eq is applied...

    Cross over less speakers

Loosely speaking, Quad ESL63 and its direct successors are both "full"-range and crossoverless (so far as I know). And the bigger Soundlab electrostatic speakers too. But maybe the OP didn't have panel speakers in mind.

    <$150 desktop headphone amp options?

I have a Schiit Magni Heretic. Dressed in black (with red but not garish-red side panels), it does its job without fuss. It also feels well made for the modest price. I do not know if your Verums are hard to drive, but the Heretic has plenty of power for the phones I've tried, even in...

Master "deals" (massdrop, ebay, Amazon, etc.) Thread on Audio Product Sales

Is this the same DAC reviewed here? A whopping price drop since the ASR review, if so. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/sabaj-a20d-review-balanced-dac.27175/

Today is exactly 40th anniversary of CD in EU/US. Is that a reason to celebrate? How many have you collected? And how do you store your treasures?

I too wish that more labels would release multichannel SACDs. Until the big streaming services go multichannel (if ever?), the SACD can still be a viable option, especially for classical music listeners. (I know our resident expert on music-in-the-round prefers downloads though....) By the...

WiiM Pro - Review & Measurements (Streamer)

This certainly beats snaking a long interconnect from System 1 (turntable) to System 2! I also use my WiiMs this way. Some (maybe many on this forum) may argue that 16/48 is more than good enough for digitizing the output of any vinyl setup .... but perhaps the ADC on the WiiM is audibly...

WiiM Pro - Review & Measurements (Streamer)

Many thanks for putting the Pro through its paces. Would some of the Pro's technical problems be fixable by firmware updates (if WiiM were inclined), or are these really hardware issues?

Wide dispersion near field speaker for hifi listening

That's a good question. Maybe @napilopez, who commented on his preference (to a point) for wide dispersion speakers in the Technics thread (see link to his post below), has thoughts about that? Maybe beyond some super-nearfield point, and depending on the nearby surfaces, beam width starts to...

Wide dispersion near field speaker for hifi listening

How about the Technics SB-C700, measured here? It's described in the ASR measurement thread as one of the few wide-dispersion coaxial speakers. Seems like it might fit your bill if you can find a pair used, especially if you can eq (or listen a bit off-axis) and do not overdrive them (which...

Which speakers are the Classical Music Pros using?

To get my response to your post back on track... according to the booklet that came with BMG's SACD reissue of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade (and I believe other releases in the same series), the three-track RCA Living Stereo recordings used "tube-amplifier Ampex 300-3 1/2" machines running at...

Which speakers are the Classical Music Pros using?

If you love that period of RCA Living Stereo more generally, this 2-cd set from the 1990s may be of interest. Mohr/Layton were behind some of the best Reiner/CSO recordings, but Pfeiffer also produced his fair share.

Most beautiful speakers in the world ?

Technics SB-C700 (reviewed by ASR in black). Not "the most beautiful speakers in the world" by any stretch of the imagination, but far from the ugliest (for a modest stand-mounted speaker)!

    CDs, Vinyl, or Cassettes

I buy multichannel SACDs when I can, and occasionally CDs of releases that I cannot stream (for example, those from the Hyperion label). If you like classical music, an excellent source for both in the US is the Berkshire Record Outlet. They have several hundred SACDs at steeply discounted...

What are we listening to right now..

This is part of a series of Sinfonia of London/John Wilson SACDs on Chandos that has received many raves. I found the following (hilarious) review on Amazon. I had to go back and listen to the Bolero track to see if I could hear the "fleet footed snare drummer" wandering all over the...
