How NOT to set up speakers and room treatment ( Goldensound)

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. Certainly it is good advice to be more satisfied, to try to settle for 90%. But at the same time, the context here seems a bit funny to me: in countless reviews and threads on this site, people are discussing differences between devices that I would place...

Neumann MA1 vs. Dirac Live Bass Control (DLBC) - Dual KH750 subs

Yes, i think the best thing i could do is visiting a good studio somewhere and just listen how it sounds to get a reference point. A very interesting experience was listening to the 50.000 EUR Sennheiser HE-1 and realising it is just a headphone. With less flaws than others, but not in a...

How NOT to set up speakers and room treatment ( Goldensound)

I have started a few threads already in the past in my search for better sound in my room, if you are interested. Current room and latest measurements (trying to optimize bass response with dual sub setup with software)...

How NOT to set up speakers and room treatment ( Goldensound)

I find this whole discussion and topic frustrating. I've been trying for many years to get as good a sound as possible in my small room (15 sqm). To do this, I have bought the best (neutral) speakers I could afford, bought and tried almost all hardware and software DSPs and EQ solutions...

    Can't decide $3500 budget: KH120II + KH750 vs 8330 + 7350 vs R3 Meta vs Others

Good post, because i think you wrote a good summary of the best choices available. I think you can't do something wrong with these choices and have to decide for youself ultimately. Regarding the BNC connector: You can buy simple coaxial digital cables with RCA on one and BNC on the other side...

    Neumann KH120 II

Yes, on the other hand there are home speakers that can be subjectively good for "pleasure listening" (depending on preferences) but are not suitable for studio use. I was in a holiday apartment recently and my partner praised the sound of the diffuse and overly bassy speakers there (we have...

    Neumann KH120 II

For controlling the KH80 or KH750 you can use the Neumann.control ipad app, but it is not compatible with the 120II or 150. See also: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/contributors-welcome-open-source-python-client-for-sennheiser-sound-control-protocol-ssc.38607/

    Neumann KH750 without Neumann monitors

There are also the Bag End Infra Subs. AFAIK originally developed for researching the communication of elephants, but maybe that's an urban legend :-). I don't know them, but maybe worth a look. https://bagend.com/products/series/infrasub_system_bag_end_bass/ I agree the KH750 is probably not...

How NOT to set up speakers and room treatment ( Goldensound)

But doesn't this mean 15 people (8+7) preferred some kind of treatment and 11 no treatment?

    My Rew(view)

BTW, this is how your ETC looks like - left channel (Impulse -> Envelope). You have quite a lot early reflections. The one -6 dB at around 2.5 ms is probably the reflection from the back wall (behind the LP). Others are probably the ceiling, maybe the floor and also the side walls. There is no...

    Neumann KH120 II

So, you'll have a screen in front of you and the speakers left and right from the display, a metre away. Doesn't the size of the KH150 speak against them in this scenario?

    My Rew(view)

I am talking about room eq here. For this, i don't touch the higher frequencies anyway, but i need them to calculate a target. This works better with seperate measurements and averaging, if i want to combine L and R. I assume the polarity to be correct, i don't check this with a measurement. I...

    My Rew(view)

It is simple: When i measure LR together or L and R seperately i get different results. The LR one looks wrong, the others right. So i don't use the LR, because it worries me and it does no good trying to "correct" this. I don't know the theory behind this, just an empirical experience.

    My Rew(view)

No, because you have two ears it is different anyway. Looks fine, i think. If you are considering more absorbers, i would focus on the 150-300Hz area (thick and with a scatterplate or something to avoid more treble Absorption)

    My Rew(view)

LR Dirac looks wrong because you measured both channels at the same time (-> cancellations between L and R). Better to measure L and R seperately and calculate an average with REW. Maybe show that again then. Bass looks good, you really don't need a sub for stereo. Personally, i always find the...
