What IEMs do you consider significantly better than the beloved Truthear Zero IEMs?

OK, just for a start I ordered the 7Hz Salnotes Zero, which is one of those cheap ones which copied he Aria curve and is also on the top of the AutoEQ list. I might also buy a Chu just for fun, it also has super good rankings. Then I guess the sweet spot might be a Blessing 3 Dusk when it comes out.

What IEMs do you consider significantly better than the beloved Truthear Zero IEMs?

What IEMs would you recommend for me for the following criteria: - I really like the sound of my Sennheiser HD650 with EQ (but not so much without EQ). I use it with Oratory's "Optimum Hifi" profile (+ desktop DAC + amp). - I'm looking for an IEM which I can use with my M1 Macbook Pro's built-in...

    Audio Interface Suitable for Measurements

Under virtual machine I couldn't make it work, but it's good to know that it works well under real Windows. In macOS it's not supported anymore.

    Audio Interface Suitable for Measurements

The old E-MU works perfectly, but there is no driver support for it with any modern OS, except for Linux. Basically you need to use it with an old laptop, or with a Raspberry Pi, etc.

Review and Measurements of WesionTEK Khadas Tone Board DAC

Could anyone make the KTB 1 work with USB-C cables? On my Macbook it doesn't even power on. With a USB C-A and A-C adapter it works well.

USB-C cables: active / passive / E-Mark chips effect on audio quality?

Received the Amazon Basics USB 2.0 cable. It doesn't work with the Khadas Tone Board (XMOS XU208). The same DAC works perfectly with a C-A + A-C adapter. With a C-C cable it doesn't, it's not even powering on (it's powered by USB). Update: found a thread on the Khadas forums about this issue...

EQ Software for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS/iPadOS and Android.

SoundSource on macOS can now take custom EQ profiles in .txt format. The same format as used by Equalizer APO / Peace. They have a knowledge base article explaining how to do it, it's basically a one click import. https://rogueamoeba.com/support/knowledgebase/?showArticle=SoundSource-Custom-HPEQ

Just wanted to bump up this thread with the information that Sound Source can take any custom EQ profile in the .txt format. The same format as used by Equalizer APO / Peace. They have a knowledge base article explaining how to do it, it's basically a one click import...

I'm ordering it. But other than ordering that one cable, I learned a lot from this thread.

USB-C cables: active / passive / E-Mark chips effect on audio quality?

Yes, with USB-IF the choice is basically Amazon Basics.

USB-C cables: active / passive / E-Mark chips effect on audio quality?

Sony sounds good, although I'm afraid of counterfeits. Samsung accessories are for example is infamous for the high percentage of counterfeits, especially online. Delock is a brand I can buy locally, and what I like in them is they are the only ones who list cable gauge and E-Marker chip brand...

USB-C cables: active / passive / E-Mark chips effect on audio quality?

I agree, but what I wanted to avoid was noname brands with a chip in them. I mean look at Amazon.de top USB cables: How many of these brand names do you recognize? Now if possible, I'd like to avoid having any chip from any brand I've never heard of. Now it's good to know that in theory, the...

Various DACs <$300, mostly with XMOS USB chipset.

USB-C cables: active / passive / E-Mark chips effect on audio quality?

Am I the only one here who remembers USB hard drives corrupting data based on which cable we used, back in the USB 2.0 years? Now I understand that DAC interfaces improved a lot since XMOS and motherboards improved a lot with recent chipsets, but USB is definitely not a 100% stable interface...

USB-C cables: active / passive / E-Mark chips effect on audio quality?

Nothing, basically I wanted to know if it can affect audio quality. Separate data and voltage line make it sound like it shouldn't be affected. And I'm not talking about "sonic" kind of audio quality, I'm talking about "bits are bits" kind of quality, where a cheap USB hub could introduce...

USB-C cables: active / passive / E-Mark chips effect on audio quality?

I found a good resource from Benson Leung: https://people.kernel.org/bleung/how-many-kinds-of-usb-c-to-usb-c-cables-are-there https://people.kernel.org/bleung/now-how-many-usb-c-to-usb-c-cables-are-there-usb4-update-september-12 "Cables 2-6 are required by the USB specification to include an...

USB-C cables: active / passive / E-Mark chips effect on audio quality?

But that chip has to do something with the data, or do they have different wires to communicate that? I mean why isn't the E-Marker chip considered active?

USB-C cables: active / passive / E-Mark chips effect on audio quality?

But aren't all 100W cables by definition active? That's the most confusing part for me. Most of them don't mention they are active, yet, the new Anker cable for example is 100W.

USB-C cables: active / passive / E-Mark chips effect on audio quality?

Thanks for the linked products. So basically the key is to look for a USB 2.0, 60W or less variant. Do I understand right that these cables are passive, without any chip?
