The LS aluminum block and T56 6 speed transmission weighs 30 lbs more than the stock 6 cylinder/ 4 speed transmission in my Z. With a little tweaking can make 4 times the hp and is completely reliable and daily drivable. Mine dyno’d at 396 hp at the wheels. They truly are great engines.

I live 20 minutes from the Dragon. So many great roads here in Tennessee. I take my MINI up there often but I really want to take my LS1 swapped 260Z...It'll happen this year.

I had the same thing with a Ford F350. 4 transmissions in 90k miles! Ford paid for the first 2 but I paid for the 2nd 2. I will never buy another Ford.

I don't care about stereo imaging - am I alone. (Poll)

Very true! If your dancing stereo is useless and in fact can be a detriment. But I think several people could enjoy stereo setup at the same time but only one will be able to have the optimal position.

I don't care about stereo imaging - am I alone. (Poll)

I don’t agree with your view at all. Getting the soundstage/imaging right also improves all the areas you claim to appreciate; clarity, frequency balance, etc.. A properly set up stereo can immerse you in sound if that was on the recording. Sounds to me like you would prefer a surround sound...

That port looks huge for that driver. What is the tuning frequency? Looks like a good choice for a tennis ball.

I was just going to ask which crossover you tested. I wonder if the upgraded crossover would measure different.

Why do speakers pop and thump with a surge protector?

The pop is because the capacitors are discharging through the speakers because the relay wasn’t disconnected first.

Why do speakers pop and thump with a surge protector?

There is probably a relay that disconnects the speaker from the amp when turned off properly.

What do you prefer? Headphones or Speakers

Speakers for serious listening, enjoyment. Headphones just don’t do it for me.

Akai GX-620 Reel to Reel Tape Deck Measurements

Bias is almost always user adjustable. On professional recorders like Revox it was standard operating procedure to set bias.

Akai GX-620 Reel to Reel Tape Deck Measurements

That is probably a result of over bias. Proper bias for each type of tape was necessary for extended and proper high frequency response. I think if the bias was set properly this would have excellent frequency response well past 20khz.

Akai GX-620 Reel to Reel Tape Deck Measurements

The low frequency bump is “head bump”. A common issue with tape recorders and something the pros had to deal with for years. http://www.endino.com/graphs/

    PS Audio AirLens...

I think PS Audio was the first to use hdmi cables to transmit the signal. They certainly did not create the format!

Your Favorite Power Amplifier that you have ever owned or currently own and what makes it your favorite

Audio Research Classic 120 monoblocs are my favorites. I’ve tried dozens of solid state and tube amps but none of the recreate a soundstage as realistic and convincing as these. Just got these back from ARC after a full capacitor and opto coupler replacement. They do not sound like classic...
