    Hifiman HE400SE Review (Headphone)

You'll love them and be stunned at how good they sound for the money. One of my all-time favorite cans in the hobby, especially price-to-value ratio. Enjoy!

    Hifiman Edition XS

Bob nailed it. But I solved the firmness problem by simply kneading the foam gently with my thumbs. Softened it considerably. Became comfortable. The best kind of mod -- free!

Audeze LCD-X Review (2021 Edition Headphone)

Yep. It's very, very good. I found a convolution filter based on Jaakko's AutoEQ profiles that suits me perfectly, but the built-in Audeze preset in Roon also is lovely for my LCD-X 2021. Both the Audeze house preset and Jaakko's convolution filter sound very similar.

    Hifiman HE400SE Review (Headphone)

The bass on both is similar. 560s may extend deeper. 560s definitely has a treble peak. This is all based on my ears, not a graph.

    Hifiman HE400SE Review (Headphone)

I've owned both and will chime in. The 560s is better for gaming. Period. Better imaging, soundstage, separation, detail. The HE400se is better for musical enjoyment. Period. Yes, the 560s has more detail and is more neutral. But its sound signature is clinical and dry, with peaky treble --...

    Hifiman HE400SE Review (Headphone)

There's more to the ability to drive a headphone than impedance. Sensitivity matters a LOT, too. For example, a can with 25 ohms impedance and 85 db sensitivity will be a hell of a lot tougher to drive than a can with 25 ohms and 103 db.

JDS Atom Amp+ Review (Headphone Amplifier)

He's a lone voice screaming in the forest. While I don't doubt his bad experience with a JDS product (an incredibly rare phenomenon, BTW), the rush by others in this thread to defend JDS, its products and legendary customer service, and company founder and boss @jseaber (John Seaber) as MASSIVE...

Audeze LCD-X Review (2021 Edition Headphone)

Not a problem for me, and my right ear has some weird cartilage that protrudes. The LCD-2C definitely have deeper pads than the LCD-X 2021. But the LCD-X 2021 are still comfortable.

JDS Atom Amp+ Review (Headphone Amplifier)

There's a very simple solution to the light weight of the Atom+ stack -- a small, Lucite rack. My JDS Atom+ amp and DAC are stacked in such a unit, and it keeps them from moving around as much as when outside of the rack. I'll take a plastic chassis and sufficient, super-clean, non-colored...

Audeze LCD-X Review (2021 Edition Headphone)

I switch between the parametric EQ, convolution filters and Audeze preset EQ settings in Roon.

JDS Atom Amp+ Review (Headphone Amplifier)

My Atom+ DAC-amp stack has worked flawlessly for quite some time, so it sounds like you have a defective unit. While it reads like the JDS ship has sailed with you, JDS has the best customer service in the industry. If something is wrong, John Seaber will ensure it's fixed.

Final Audio UX3000 / Surprisingly good ANC cans

As Joe Strummer sang with The Clash, the Final Audio UX3000 sadly can "go straight to hell, boy ... " A shame, as the sound signature was really nice for $150.

Final Audio UX3000 / Surprisingly good ANC cans

I got a pair of these. The sound is consumer-friendly but refined. Yes, accentuated bass and a slight V-shaped sound signature. A bit of bleed into the lower mids. That's to be expected with almost any ANC over-ear can at this price range. Not bad at all. Enjoyable, especially for $150. But...

    THX Onyx Review (headphone adapter)

The entire DragonFly line is "meh" for the money. A triumph of marketing over performance.

    Sennheiser HD560S Review (Headphone)

I do to smooth rough edges, but I prefer not to use EQ to overhaul the entire sound signature to a target curve. I prefer a can that's tuned well to my tastes out of the box.

    Sennheiser HD560S Review (Headphone)

Good luck. You can't go wrong with either. Just understand the HD 560s is a very clinical, revealing, cold headphone. Well-recorded and mixed songs will sound great, while those with lower recording and mixing standards will not. The HD 560s is a magnifying glass of the master recording...

    Sennheiser HD560S Review (Headphone)

I've owned both. While I think the HD 560s is slightly overrated because of an annoying treble peak, it's a far better headphone than the SHP9500. The SHPs are perfectly fine as a bare-bones, entry-level open-back can. But the treble is shrill and grainy as hell, and complex passages of music...
