    Topping E30 II DAC Review

I think the correct statement is: A real pre-amp has at least some gain. Multi-input source selectors (or mixers) and/or multi-output options are the function of a multi-source receiver or mixer. That functionality can be front-ended to a pre-amp that only does "pre-amp", or those functions...

    Hifiman He6se v2

I feel like this may be a troll-bait from someone who just joined and immediately posted this thread of non-sensical gibberish (or perhaps ChatGPT text).

Why the fuss with subwoofer specs and brands?

Brilliant! I think a megapixel measure should be included in future tests of stereo equipment to represent the stereo imaging quality of the speaker or equipment .

Why the fuss with subwoofer specs and brands?

I think this might be a very significant detail. In my case, the room is 11m2 (120 sq ft).

Is REL being more 'musical' than SVS a myth, or is there some real science behind this?

Whether Audyssey, Dirac, miniDSP2x4 DSP, or built-in subwoofer DSP is the better system for adjusting timing, phase, PEQ, etc. for each subwoofer is an interesting question. But I think that is out of scope for this thread. The ability to get a "room reading" and to set the DSP parameters is...

Is REL being more 'musical' than SVS a myth, or is there some real science behind this?

This has been a key question in my mind — I asked it a while back on this (or another) thread, but I don't recall anyone giving a definitive answer. So put differently, is there processing capabilities in an SVS-1000/2000 Pro (or other similar priced line of subwoofers) that cannot be...

    Focal Aria 906 Speaker Review

That is insane — and the stands are amazing! I just spent (in USD) the equivalent of £490 for a pair of Chora 806 + stands to use as surround rears -- I would have happily added the extra £150 for matching 906s in back. As other noted, you do not need a sub but it will make a difference. But...

    Turntables as an art form

But, it is also quite beautiful with the high gloss finish. The tone arm and plater reflect nicely off of the walnut surface, much like a image in a mirroring lake. So as someone who doesn't do any woodwork, my inclination would be to leave the gloss finish as is.

    WiiM Mini Streamer

Expected yes, but that is only because they choose to allow instability — it is not "inevitable". There are incredibly large, complex infrastructures that dwarf the size of Amazon Music yet deliver close to (or above) five 9's for decades on end.

    Turntables as an art form

I was also going to mention Fluance. Though I think the RT84 is their sweet spot -- especially if you can pick it up on sale (e.g., $350 Black Friday); or even the RT83. I have RT84 walnut, but the bamboo looks pretty sharp as well...

Is REL being more 'musical' than SVS a myth, or is there some real science behind this?

My bad... I should have added some emoji after the first line [edited to add that]. My main point was aligned with your point — REL is a master at marketing. But, what I was reacting to was the implication that the OP had not bothered to do any research, and if they had simply done "a bit" of...

Is REL being more 'musical' than SVS a myth, or is there some real science behind this?

Exactly... "a bit of research" (as opposed to a lot of research) would very easily lead anyone to believe REL is an amazing choice.

Why the fuss with subwoofer specs and brands?

Thanks for recommendation on BK. Looks interesting and would meet the budget target very well. But for some reason, they never seem to show up very much in my readings on subs; though likely in part because they don't seem to target the USA market. Still dig the white — does a far better job...

Is REL being more 'musical' than SVS a myth, or is there some real science behind this?

That is absolutely, completely FALSE.!!!! ;) A bit of research will convince you that REL is one of the best, if not the only, TRUE SUB for music. It is only after a LOT of research, where you happen to get lucky enough to stumble across ASR and a few other sites (that are NOT in the...

Why the fuss with subwoofer specs and brands?

Could you expand on this — there is something here that I am clearly missing. I thought both of those ("begin boosting frequency based on length of room" & "boundary gain") were essentially the same thing, with the boost being greater when in a corner. And I thought it applied equally to sealed...

Why the fuss with subwoofer specs and brands?

So under the framework of "why the fuss with subwoofer specs and brands", two questions that I still am still not sure if I need to "fuss" about. Assuming the use of either Audyssey MultiEQ-X, miniDSP 2x4, REW, etc. for integrating multiple subs (2 to 4): 1) Does Continuous Phase Control on...

Why the fuss with subwoofer specs and brands?

But for a few of us, we have been discussing the input on a subwoofer labeled "LFE". Including the recent digression where @sarumbear is providing some very helpful insight from the perspective of the *source media*, this thread has cleared up a significant confusion that I have had about when...

Why the fuss with subwoofer specs and brands?

What sub would you recommend (under $500 / €500) against the criteria I listed? I'm not sure I would have ordered REL T/5i in hindsight either... but I also do not know of any better contenders than potentially the SVS SB-1000. Also, can you share any quality ported subs that do not...

Why the fuss with subwoofer specs and brands?

As an owner of dual REL T/5i subs, do you mind if I play this game as well? Small size. We were in a 834 sq ft, 2 BR apartment; the small living room area included our dining table, TV & audio rack, couch, and my wife's loom. Finish (piano white). The subs were in our only living area; so...

    SUBWOOFER for FOCAL ARIA 906

Mostly cost economics . I believe all of the subwoofers mentioned at better than the REL 5/Ti subs. And I figure I can sell the RELs for ~$400 each, so each of the options above are within $200 over the amount I get back from selling the RELs. Though it does occur me there is another...
