    Topping LA90 Review (Integrated Amplifier)

Class D? (remember, actual LA90 is class AB)

What new Vinyl did you get? please post a picture

To have the best sound experience ... yes, totally. Many people only used cheap bounded conical / elliptical styluses and they think that audible distortion, sibilances or IGD are normal. With a properly configured line contact stylus, clean records and a decent turntable (not talking about...

    Fan-less silent PC

It would be useful that technical specs includes the fan noise in dBs with some "standard" method (1meter/blah blah). A low noise fan surely will stay under the room noise floor (as HTPC, normally you're not close to the PC). Another caveat with fans is the dust problem ... and more noise in...

What new Vinyl did you get? please post a picture

You don't need to hear pops & clicks. What you need to do on every record? (Yes, brand new ones included) Do the following only once: - clean the record with a RCM (aspiration or cavitation) - use a new inner sleeve (mofi style, the prices now are very low, Hudson HiFi are the cheaper ones) Do...

    Expectations vs. results

mastering / recording is the key in the source. after that, your speakers have much greater distortion than vinyl and your amplifier can have lesser dynamic range than vinyl ... and ... can we talk about room acoustics? so ... in the REAL world ... the theoretical axioms can be totally silly...

    Fan-less silent PC

What % of CPU do you have with JRiver + Dirac Live? I want that and a Focusrite Scarlett ADC with a turntable. Maybe is too much for that machine.

Looking for mini PC plus audio interface for audio Swiss Army knife.

Is what I think, the raspberry worked well with DSP in stereo or the audio interface ... But if you use both at the same time (ADC 44.1/16 + DSP) you get lots of skips. ADC with 96/24 and DSP is what I want to do.

Looking for mini PC plus audio interface for audio Swiss Army knife.

Anyone applied DSP and used an audio interface for analog input with that mini PC? (or any other fanless). I don't know if the 5105 have enough power to do that efficiently and without skips. Everything more powerful seems to have fans included

    Minidsp Flex Review (Audio DSP)

Maybe we need a separate thread to discuss mini PC based flex alternatives. I think many people can find it useful.

    Minidsp Flex Review (Audio DSP)

The Intel Celeron N5105 have decent performance and good reviews. I think it have more than enough power to do standard audio DSP. https://www.cnx-software.com/2022/06/03/mele-quieter3q-review-ultra-thin-fanless-mini-pc-tested-with-windows-11-ubuntu-22-04/ I want to test that mini PC, but I...

Used Debut Carbon Evo - New stylus or new cartridge?

I use vinyl for almost 50 years... and I have the 33ptg2 and also used shibata. Preferences can't be discussed, I only talk about facts or information. What anyone likes ... is what they like. Nothing more.

Used Debut Carbon Evo - New stylus or new cartridge?

You're watching only the price ... the price tag have many facets. Patents, mass production, manual work, inspection, etc. The SLC is something particular for AT, microline is used in many brands (even with other names, as SAS from Jico), so surely the SLC have smaller production. Shibata was...

Used Debut Carbon Evo - New stylus or new cartridge?

No regrets with a microline stylus ... no distortions, sibilances and a cleaner sound. Is the more advanced stylus profile created in the 80s, some people have preference for the 70s shibata, surely because is a "touch" more darker / less detailed. But the sound at the end comes from your...

Used Debut Carbon Evo - New stylus or new cartridge?

It's not hard ... you need to do a little more work, settings like VTA, azimuth, antiskating are important. With conical / elliptical styluses they aren't important. The turntabe base is another aspect , I use a thick marble base with the turntable feets over special stands like vibrapods. You...

Used Debut Carbon Evo - New stylus or new cartridge?

Yes, and price x performance the 95ml is unbeatable. I have the vm540ml, the 740ml and some MC with SUT. Every step further adds tiny differences, it isn't "night and day". So, believe me, with the vm95ml you will have a great analog system. Only some "caveat" about it ... the more refined...

Used Debut Carbon Evo - New stylus or new cartridge?

The Ortofon Blue is a decent cartridge and you don't need to install and setup a new cartridge. If you're a newbie ... that's the best option. If you want to mess with the cartridge changing game, the best bang for the buck today is the Audio Technica vm95 line of products. The vm95e is in the...

Integrating a turntable into a digital system

A cheap ADC is what you have and normally they are only a commodity. A good ADC without phono preamp normally is USB, so, more complicated, you need a computer. Integrated preamp in the turntable is not a good idea, you ended paying for something you'll need to change sooner or later. My...
