The IEM Harman Target 2019 sounds "off" to me. Is it just me?

Yes, but Harman curve is more about the shape, not about exact shelf values... Which is precisely why most TWS BT headphones have some kind of customizable EQ implemented.

    Cheapest Bluetooth IEMs worth owning

JBL TUNE130NC & TUNE230NC are also pairs with relatively nice tuning & some acceptable noise cancelling/EQ performance.

The IEM Harman Target 2019 sounds "off" to me. Is it just me?

Yea, but "Cheap, wishy-washy, no mids, very "incorrect"." is on entire other level of 'impossible to talk about.' Not to mention the assumed snob snob appeal of other curves.

The IEM Harman Target 2019 sounds "off" to me. Is it just me?

Excuse me, but that description is not quite scientific and understandable. Bright, thin DF-like target w/o bass ain't good neither. Also remember that Harman is not defined for frequencies >8kHz, because coupler's accuracy is bad there.

    Cheapest Bluetooth IEMs worth owning

Honestly I don't have the means to check, but looking at https://btcodecs.valdikss.org.ru/codec-compatibility/ (OG Buds in dump have Bitpool 37) and some Reddit posts (e.g. here) about Buds2 I infer that whole Buds lineup might be affected and they still didn't fix this. Would take some owners...

    Cheapest Bluetooth IEMs worth owning

Be careful since the Galaxy Buds line has severe problems with SBC codec, e.g. Buds+ has SBC bitpool 37 so the sound is atrocious if not connected via Samsung Scalable/AAC. So, pretty much each Windows 10 laptop is screwed. You can also buy anything compatible with MMCX and buy TWS adapters...

    Replacement pads for AKG k371

I remeber some in the net have reported that if you remove the AKG stickers from speaker turning joints, there should be a screw that you can tighten, but I didn't do that myself yet. Google around maybe? Probably voids the warranty though.

TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero IEM Review

"Bias" is the right way to call it - if R&D and production costs can be covered by $50 for any IEMs then anything over $50 is expensive.

TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero IEM Review

It just has to appeal to (sort-of?) the intended target groups. There is a cross between budget chi-fi buyers and lovers of this type of aesthetics. You can't avoid the marketing here, since they're also trying to catch the crowd with no interest in audio itself. Sick and ugly? Well... I wish...

    Superlux HD668B Review (headphone)

Except these are your claims that break-in is possible in small speaker cones, which is a debatable subject and that break-in happens due to mechanical changes in cones, which is impossible to claim since you don't know the parts' repeatability. The burden on truth is on you to show at least one...

    Superlux HD668B Review (headphone)

I mean you could show it on FR or THD if break-in wasn't just a myth. I remember that Tyll has shown that it just doesn't work, since there was no repeatable difference which could be attributed to break-in only and that makes sense. Not to mention that he didn't assess any kind of statistical...

    Why the hate for Grado?

Makes sense at large if hearing damage can be encapsulated in FR changes. I guess it'd be harder to match headphones with hearing aid or even impossible to use together, is it?

    Why the hate for Grado?

That is one of the running gags, no, well, theories on how they arrived at the curve, have seen that being proposed a few times.

    Why the hate for Grado?

Most likely 5dB better SNR. BUT HEY, THE EFFORT, RIGHT? I remember that back in 2012 on forums people contemplated running such rigs. For iPods. And IEMs...

    Why the hate for Grado?

Bet Grado (w/ Beyer) is one of the reasons that audiophile shtick considers bright as more detailed & well-voiced alas better. This will stay with us until the universe finally explodes.

Experiment proposition: presence of cross-ear sound in open-backed headphones

The idea is pretty short I would like to propose an experiment, which would enlighten us on something I've been wondering for a while now. Maybe somebody has already bumped on scientific papers testing this one out? I don't have in-ear microphones available to run this myself. One would wear...
