    PGGB upsampler: DeltaWave null analysis

PGGB now uses 256 bit precision: https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/62699-a-toast-to-pggb-a-heady-brew-of-math-and-magic/?do=findComment&comment=1234008 "We managed to reduce the noise floor in the audible range from an already low -540dB to -740dB." Before dismissing this outright as...

Zero-emission vehicles, their batteries & subsidies/rebates for them.- No politics regarding the subsidies!

Hopefully, the infrastucture would have improved by then (we've got a long way to go here in the UK). Mani.

Zero-emission vehicles, their batteries & subsidies/rebates for them.- No politics regarding the subsidies!

Wasn't intending on buying an EV for another few years at the earliest. But had a test drive in one of these and placed an order immediately: I absolutely loved it! 2.5 tonnes, but suprisingly nimble around town. Superb driving position due to lack of bonnet/hood at front. Very low centre of...

    Shout-out to @Frank Dernie

Ha... I just had to order some bags of Ringtons De-luxe Extra Fresh Loose Tea once I'd visited Frank, back in 2017 I think it was. Absolutely loved the stuff, but then went all decaffeinated soon thereafter. I'm back on one caffeinated drink per day first thing in the morning, so might give a...

    PGGB upsampler: DeltaWave null analysis

Is it clear that PGGB and SoX are more accurate than DeltaWave? (Not that it matters in the least bit for all practical purposes. Purely out of interest...) Mani.

    PGGB upsampler: DeltaWave null analysis

I gave PGGB a go last year and really couldn't understand why anyone would use it. To my ears, 16/44.1 files upsampled in PGGB sounded pretty much identical when upsampled in Sony's Audio Studio. And in any event, 16/44.1 already sounds absolutely fine. Mani.

    PGGB upsampler: DeltaWave null analysis

I believe I can hear differences where 'regular' measurements suggest they shouldn't be audible. BUT... There's no getting around null differences, as measured by DeltaWave. If the difference between 2 files is -185dB, there's not a cat's chance in hell that any DAC on the planet would 'react'...

How do we get more young people into audio?

One way... Bought this system for my (then) 10 year-old last year: He absolutely loves it. I haven't heard him listen to music on anything else. Mani.

Topping LA90 vs HypeX Nilai for very efficient speakers (100db Klipsch horns)

If I were you, I'd go for Neurochrome modules... especially as you're in Canada. Give @tomchr a shout for further info. I use Neurochromes with my 109dB/[email protected] horns and love them. I also have some LA90s, but have never used them with these horns. I strongly suspect they'd sound similar to the...

    Topping LA90 Review (Integrated Amplifier)

Fair enough. My LA90 monos drive a 15k pair of speakers. (I'd happily use them with my main speakers too, but I'm driving these actively nowadays, so would require 10x monos.) Though I'm sure there must be some out there, I haven't heard of a single LA90 malfunction. I have three LA90s in...

    Topping LA90 Review (Integrated Amplifier)

Don't know. I drive the LA90 monos directly from my DAC, which has an output impedance of just 2 Ohms. I also have a preamp with an output impedance of 600 Ohms. I'll try to find the time this week to drive the LA90s with the preamp. If this preamp drives them well enough, I would have thought...

Setting up an active crossover using Roon

Sorry, very quick reply for now... Once set up (via CueMix), the MOTU does not have to remain connected to a PC - it stores the settings internally. I use a SOtM sMS-200 streamer as a Roon Endpoint with my MOTU. But if you want to use the MOTU as a recording device also, then you'll need a PC...

    HDCD DACS

The UltraAnalog D20400 DAC chips are very nice-sounding. The PM Model One/Two used one per channel. Mani.

    Rotel RB-1070 Amplifier Review

Ah, Rotel at last :). Thanks Amir. I've been a long-time Rotel fan. Started with an RCD-855 at uni. Workted my way up to this full Michi stack by the early '00s: Sounded as good as it looked. Currently using a couple of monster RB-1590 amps to drive my subs. Mani.

    HDCD DACS

I couldn't remember how many, hence the "?". But from the manual: "During HDCD 16-bit A/D conversion, or after HDCD 24-bit or 20-bit A/D conversion and 24- bit or 20-bit digital processing, the Model Two’s HDCD 16-bit amplitude encoding options, Peak Extension, HDCD Limiting, Low Level...
