Question about DIY Class D Amps (Kit and Prebuilts) and other components for 2ch system

Sourcing the parts via Hypex, Purifi and Ghent is more expensive than buying prebuilt 1ET400A from the great builders here on ASR. I can highly recommend Apollon amps, impeccable customer service and build quality.

Wilson Audio TuneTot Review (high-end bookshelf speaker)

Hey I am coming down your way in February. Back to Wilson speakers. I think Amir was being very kind in his review. The Wilson line must increase in terrible sound quality as they move up in price.

Wilson Audio TuneTot Review (high-end bookshelf speaker)

Jason how the hell are you? Why so angry this morning? Are you referring to Amir? I was asking a legitimate question.

Wilson Audio TuneTot Review (high-end bookshelf speaker)

I am surprised Wilson hasn’t hit Amir with a cease and desist letter. Wilson are protective of their products and have a list of approved reviewers.

Wilson Audio TuneTot Review (high-end bookshelf speaker)

Richlite can be machined with regular woodworking machinery, aluminum you need large CNC machines. I don‘t understand the aluminum speaker craze. Maybe a metallurgist member can explain.

Wilson Audio TuneTot Review (high-end bookshelf speaker)

I think they use Richlite but I may be wrong. I know it is a phenolic based board of some type. Richlite is not cheap.

    Any conspiracy theorists here?

David may I make another suggestion? Replace “aliens” with “subjectivists”.

What are the reasons to choose Class A/AB/H over D in this day and age?

I apologize I meant to put schmear, a smear or spread.

What are the reasons to choose Class A/AB/H over D in this day and age?

Doesn’t the use of the new GaN FETs help push the switching speeds much higher away from the audio band? Maybe less schmear? Maybe Bruno and Purifi will come out with a GaN amp soon.

    KEF T301C Review (Ultra-thin Speaker)

I have these as my main and center for a home theater setup. They are worse than what Amir reported. Unbelievably inefficient that you need some big power AV receiver to make them play. I found them on close out online for a great price and wanted something thin and inconspicuous.

    Speaker designs using Purifi drivers

I am starting to think the purifi woofers were built with measurements in mind and not ease of implementation for speaker builders. Maybe with time and feedback from builders they will build a driver that breaks new ground.

    Speaker designs using Purifi drivers

So Dennis are the drivers as good as all the hype they have received?

    Speaker designs using Purifi drivers

It sounds like a bottom firing tuned slot for the port? Just guessing.
