    Entry level tubes amp

More serious DIY enthusiasts might want to check out Pete Millett's projects: http://pmillett.com/ "Jonokuchi" looks like a very nice all-tube design, provided that the OP's desk is big enough.

    Entry level tubes amp

Loxjie P20 appears to be a hybrid design with opamps driving the headphones (check out customer reviews on Amazon for interior view). Which can be an OK way to deliver a "tube" product without sacrificing too much performance, but is that what the OP wants?

Naim ND555 immaculate build, but does it make a difference to sonics?

So does this pre-distressed 2015 product, but it sold out at 24,500 USD.

Naim ND555 immaculate build, but does it make a difference to sonics?

Per Amir, this is an example of an "exceptionally well engineered" DAC: But whether it gives it's owners the same pride of ownership or visual and tactile pleasure as the Niam is another matter! But the creation and marketing of luxury products is a topic unto itself: it's a world where...

Making a streamer with Intel Nuc/how

Even at 1 meter, once the music's playing, you can't hear it. And when no music is playing, at 1 meter, it's faint white noise, much quieter than the refrigerator in my apartment, and nothing compared to my Playstation 4.

Making a streamer with Intel Nuc/how

I have both Raspberry Pi 3 with 7" touch screen, running either Volumio or Rune Audio, and an old Intel DN2820FYK (Celeron) usually running Vortexbox or Daphile. Although I own a NAS, I only use that for backups of the music library. With Raspberry Pi, I use an old USB hard drive for local...

    Different opamp can affect sound?

Yes, in the case of Nwavguy's modification to the Behringer UCA202, but that is a specific instance where the opamp is driving the headphones, and the new opamp has much higher output and much lower output impedance. The modified UCA202 sounds about the same as the O2 or any other decent...

    Entry level tubes amp

If you can solder, you could do a lot worse than Elekit: https://www.vkmusic.ca/TU-8100.htm I have an older model and it puts out a pretty clean square wave. But output transformers are pretty small, and bass response is limited.

Naim ND555 immaculate build, but does it make a difference to sonics?

I think what successful high-end audio companies have figured out is that they are actually in the business of catering to the desires of clientele who want what they want and are willing to spend considerable sums of money to get it. And for the customer who desires a bespoke Naim solution to...

Naim ND555 immaculate build, but does it make a difference to sonics?

You might do better to use a Benchmark product as your benchmark. This is one of my upcoming projects, a Douglas Self-approved implementation of one of his preamplifier designs. Note the almost complete lack of wiring. http://www.signaltransfer.freeuk.com/preamp.htm

    Is EQ'ing headphones worth it?

The frustration I feel with sites like that is that they're full of pretty response graphs, but not the data used to generate them! Data that could be used with Room EQ Wizard to generate parametric correction values for the target response of your choosing. That's assuming that their particular...

What makes all this worth it?

Joe Hisaishi conducts a performance of his Studio Ghibli movie music at the Budokan: I don't know that the music needs to be played on such an epic scale, but what a show! For a quick sample, jump forward to 45:20. "Totoro" fans can jump to about 1:31:00:

    Is EQ'ing headphones worth it?

Not necessarily. Sean Olive's research found little correlation between price and sound quality. https://seanolive.blogspot.com/2017/02/twirt-337-predicting-headphone-sound_17.html

    Is EQ'ing headphones worth it?

A lot of us are using measurement tools which are less than reference-grade (think $60 measurement mics) to achieve meaningful improvements in sound quality. I see that someone's got a used Bruel & Kjaer 4128-D-001 listed on eBay at 27,500 USD: That's beyond the scope of most home hobbyists...
