What should I hunt down to listen to after those?

Depends on what you're searching for. If you're after Unknown Pleasures's melancholic atmosphere, Sisters of Mercy's First and Last and Always is the nearest thing, I'd say. Cocteau Twins' first two albums and Lowlife's stuff might also interest you.

Ministry fits in with the same alternative club vibe of the time. Ministry is more aggressive but it's there and has it's part here if the scene is the interest.

No particular logic to this, more tangentially related. Depeche Mode Violator has obvious partial roots in JD. A more derivative band would be Loop, especially something like Heavens End. A non obvious and perhaps counter intuitive suggestion would be King Crimson in new wave form, notably Discipline.

Well, I'd start with Louis Armstrong, because everything starts there...

So... in my view your journey splits along instuments...

Heading towards guitars you should try:

The Stranglers followed by Love and Rockets

Heading towards synths:

Depeche Mode and Yello

(there's a plethora of great music in this era - the above suggestions are truly arbitrary - enjoy your trip regardless)

Forgot to add... A great tune to enjoy for "hifi purposes" is Love and Rockets - Saudade...

At least, that was more or less what I was listening to in the early/mid 80s when I was still well into Joy Division / New Order ...
