I guess that’s part of the question: How do we measure this thing?

The easiest test would be to put a DAC after its USB and compare it with another computer.

Does anyone have any further suggestions on how to measure this thing?

Or is the box only looks (and features)?

Roon writes in the white paper:

«...the possibility of a DC filter might make sense in some configurations».

That got me curious: What does Roon mean by «make sense in some configurations»?

And Roon decided on Ethernet connection only to coennect to the internet. Is there any reason to skip wifi internet connection if wifi connection is reliable? Can Ethernet cable outperform wifi audio wise under certain circumstances?

If I was a potential customer I'd like to see things like...
MTBF
Uptime / maintenance windows
Efficiency of the cooling
Power draw
Etc

Basically how likely is it to sit in their just working for a decade or more with none of my time taken up supporting it.

Look, I know it suits a segment of the market; ready to go, looks good etc but the price is nuts. Its $3500 AUD ! At the end of the day its just a NUC. I can buy one of those with high end specs for about $700 AUD

I'd like to have that chassies and build my own mediapc, CNC milled from an aluminium block. Guess that's where some of the huge cost comes from.

So there seems to be jitter reduction when replacing the PC with Roon’s computer.

I wonder what contributes to lower jitter; PSU, software or other hardware?

I can’t say I have noticed any difference from my Mac, but it works and it is convenient.
