[ Here the Google mobility data. It is seen rising when recovering essential work and in the last weeks with the walks. Look at the increase in "parks" activity, which includes places and the like: ]

[The rate of infection (R estimated from confirmed and deceased) has not moved much [Spain]. Follow below one. But there is a * tentative * rebound in the positives from the past week: ]

Finally it puts a halt on our 23-day record. An Elder tested confirmed today, she lives in a public housing estate about 1km from my home.

Coronavirus: Hongkonger without travel history confirmed as infected
  • The woman says she has not knowingly been in contact with any Covid-19 patients, nor been abroad
  • Case pushes Hong Kong’s total to 1,048, with four related deaths

Professor Yuen Kwok-yung, a top infectious disease expert from the University of Hong Kong, said the case also suggested silent transmission was going on in the city.

In a city where the use of a mask is widespread.

Tarragona city:

* Today I have confirmed my impression: women wear masks more than men.

* The population sector with the least use is estimated to be men between 16 and 30-35 years of age. I suppose they are not fathers and do not live with older people or other at-risk populations. The same ones that cause the most number of serious traffic accidents, I say.

101,942 Madrilenians, in the hunger queues of the capital

[ The so-called hunger tails are increasingly common in our streets , at the door of our houses. Less than two months after the state of alarm was decreed, a little more than 100,000 Madrid residents eat thanks to the help of social services and neighborhood networks in the 21 districts. Seeing people endure the dead time in line to get milk, rice, cookies, potatoes ... is something that until now we saw on the news. The weight of stigma and shame in Madrid in 2020 is only overcome by the echo of an empty stomach. ]

[ On the one hand, 81,677 belonging to 30,043 families who coordinate the consistory's social services. On the other, 20,265 out of 5,828 families are reached by groups outside the administration, according to a balance drawn up from March 15 to April 30 by the Regional Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Madrid (FRAVM). ]

It is the 3.1%

In the images that I have seen of the tail in Aluche district almost all were foreigners. People who live daily without any financial cushion, many of them workers in the underground economy, I suppose.

The first steps toward 'recovery' are starting. Many politicians and economists are very nervous about the affect/effect and voter perceptions.

We are getting to a point where 'hindsight' can be scrutinised and analysed.

There is a lot of information and data, both partisan and independent, available for scrutiny.

Interesting times ahead.

El 52% de internistas participantes en un sondeo refiere haberse enfrentado a conflictos éticos durante la crisis sanitaria por COVID-19

52% of internists [physicians] participating in a survey reported facing ethical conflicts during the COVID-19 health crisis
https://www.translatetheweb.com/?re...antes-en-un-sondeo-refiere-haberse-enfrentado

[ 2% of internist physicians participating in a survey of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (SEMI) say they have faced ethical conflicts in their clinical or care work in the care of patients in hospitals during the health crisis situation experienced in recent months by COVID-19 in Spain...

So much so that 68.1% of the participants in this survey say they have felt "impotence" and 67.5% report having had episodes of insomnia or have slept worse than usual. Nearly 6 out of 10 specialists also admits to feeling "sad and despondent" (59.2%) and 47.9% also admit to having had "less ability to concentrate to enjoy leisure activities" in their free time, such as reading or watching a movie.

On the other hand, 43 out of 100 internists (43.3%) it also acknowledges that the situation experienced as a result of COVID19 in hospitals has directly influenced their eating habits, as they claim to have "eaten less or more than usual". Among other information, this survey also reveals how the situation experienced in hospitals has affected internists in terms of their smoking habits and/or in the family or couple sphere. ]

Estudio de seroprevalencia: sólo el 5% de los españoles tiene anticuerpos frente al coronavirus

Seroprevalence study: only 5% of Spaniards have antibodies to coronavirus

[ The Ministry of Health has presented the first wave of the ENECovid19 seroprevalence study in our country. The study found that 5%, almost 2 million people, have passed SARS-COV-2 in Spain. Salvador Illa warns that this "assumes that there is no herd immunity" and so we must remain cautious in planning the climb... ]

[ Some of the data provided by ENE-Covid19, in relation to diagnosis or Covid19 by PCR, 87% of participants report having had a PCR+ and presenting IgG antibodies, i.e. those who have overcome the disease and do not infect. In possible suspected cases, prevalence increases with the number of symptoms and is particularly high in people who refer to anosmia (43%). Finally, 2.5% of participants who do not report any symptoms had IgG antibodies... ]

[ Pollante explains that more than 60,000 people have been included to have that photo, 30,000 households in two cohorts. "In this first wave, there has been a global share of 75%, it shows the interest of the population, which represents a high percentage," says Pollante.

In terms of immunity, with three or more symptoms exceeded 8%, with more than five 14% and with anosmia and loss of smell by 43%. In addition, 26% are asymptomatic.

The data have been adjusted to previous hypotheses that had: 5%, "very similar in men and women", says Pollante, while stressing "the great geographical variability, between the two there is a five-times greater difference between the regions that concentrate the highest and lowest figures".

Thus, in children under the age of ten the impact is not significant, as they do not exceed 3%. And this contrasts with this week's uptick in cases in this age group, after nearly three weeks of relief measures.

The map of possible suspicious cases Covid-19 (people with 3 or more symptoms or with sudden loss of smell) shows prevalence close to 20%, although equally high values are also observed in some other provinces. Given the possible suspicious Covid-19 cases with the definition used in this study, we observed a reduction in their prevalence between the first and second weeks... ]

Easy maths...

Deaths: 27,000 (official) - 48,500 (estimated). Suppose 35,000.

Herd immunity about 60%, wich is less than the necessary estimated.

60% = 5% x 12

35,000 deaths x 12 = 420,000 deaths

Remember, Spain only has 47.5 millions inhabitants.

Abstract:
Speech droplets generated by asymptomatic carriers of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) are increasingly considered to be a likely mode of disease transmission. Highly sensitive laser light scattering observations have revealed that loud speech can emit thousands of oral fluid droplets per second. In a closed, stagnant air environment, they disappear from the window of view with time constants in the range of 8 to 14 min, which corresponds to droplet nuclei of ca. 4 μm diameter, or 12- to 21-μm droplets prior to dehydration. These observations confirm that there is a substantial probability that normal speaking causes airborne virus transmission in confined environments.

If accurate can't risk getting near anyone who is not wearing a mask. No way would I get on a plane or subway.

Indeed. It has never been more important to scrutinize data.

For example, here in Georgia there is willful data tampering by the relevant agency. They changed their methodology contemporaneously with the governor*'s reopening decree to backdate new cases. The obvious reason is now the graph on TV looks like numbers are going down, and they're trusting that most people are not going to notice that the case numbers for earlier dates are going up.

Is that happening elsewhere too?

Tarragona province: only 1.6%

It has been done with fast tests and not with PCR, so the reliability is low.

The case fatality rate is around 1%

High SARS-CoV-2 Attack Rate Following Exposure at a Choir Practice — Skagit County, Washington, March 2020
https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6919e6.htm

[ Summary
What is already known about this topic?

Superspreading events involving SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, have been reported.

What is added by this report?
Following a 2.5-hour choir practice attended by 61 persons, including a symptomatic index patient, 32 confirmed and 20 probable secondary COVID-19 cases occurred (attack rate = 53.3% to 86.7%); three patients were hospitalized, and two died. Transmission was likely facilitated by close proximity (within 6 feet) during practice and augmented by the act of singing.

What are the implications for public health practice?
The potential for superspreader events underscores the importance of physical distancing, including avoiding gathering in large groups, to control spread of COVID-19. Enhancing community awareness can encourage symptomatic persons and contacts of ill persons to isolate or self-quarantine to prevent ongoing transmission. ]
