Ok, I admit that is a clickbait title (and poking at REL) but there is a reason for it that I'll address sometime in the future. This is the Boise Boomer, an 8" Peerless 830667 sealed in the new and slightly improved 1.17 cubic ft. drum table with the sub downfiring--you may remember its larger cousin the CrabPot subwoofer. We used to live in the Boise foothills hence the connection, and this one is much more a blend of the family design aesthetic. No measurements yet but I'll post some in the future; the commercial sub closest to it is a REL T5. I've only had time to play a bit of jazz and some of Sigberg's sub test tracks and it is very pleasant. I know some are convinced that an 8 inch sealed sub is somehow "musical" and there is some truth to how nice it sounds with content above 35 hz because there's not as much to integrate with modes being excited, nulls, dips and peaks going down to 20 hz and below. It's powered by a Dayton DTA100-LF so less power than the REL but has a band of EQ, a subsonic filter, low pass, full phase, so ahead there. BOM is about $250 including amp. That's all for now but since it's posted I'll have to honor the measurements commitment. Cheers!
