Fuel prices don't impact me too much since I don't own a car but Putin being an ass over at the border near Ukraine and Covid-19 has been driving up the cost of energy here in Europe. Granted, the Netherlands has always had relatively expensive gas prices but luckily I can do a lot using my bicycles or public transport. Living in a monumental building with 4m (13ft.) tall windows is going to sting when the final heating bill comes in later this year.

I'm just curious, are there any things for you personally that have gotten more expensive than expected this past year?

I've seen some mild fuel price increases. Nothing too out of the ordinary compared to the last decade....

I use a fuel hog van myself, but relative to costs of changing and the utility it offers....not really much of a concern.

I haven't asked my brother what his fuel costs are these days for his planes....

My property taxes have gone up by about 7% and the assessed value of my home went up 46% over last year.

What about the rate relative to assessed value?

Meat. Red meat has increased. So I am compensating with fake crab meat and bird meat. It's better for me anyway. :D

My wife's 2018 Suburban is worth 30% more on USD than I paid for it in three years ago. Glad we got it in the before times.

Housing is up 20% here. Fortunately we already have that too.

Food and fuel are up maybe 30% but still not a big part of our budget. We are fortunate.

I have seen some empty shelves in the store, and I find that more concerning than the higher prices. We can always demand more money for our labor.

Water, food, electricity, insurance, taxes. I’m a senior, we own our house and have no debt but the future is looking a bit scary.

Everything. I‘m starting at a new job next month, but at this rate I‘ll have to move on every three years or so to have any chance of wage increases keeping up with inflation.

Prices of many raw materials we use at work (chemical industry) have gone up 2x, some 3x and even more since last year freeze in Texas + covid + shipping chaos. They have not gone back to normal yet. Was a matter of time that final consumers start to notice it. It won't revert soon.

I suppose earnings is the technically correct term.

No, I think you had it correct. People who are not trained in economics (I'm not) confuse the two, but these three sort things out a bit:

Lumber prices have gone through the roof. A sheet of 8'x'4'x7/16" OSB is $44 at the local home improvement store and was near $65 last fall.
I bought some for a project 1 1/2 years ago and it was $17 a sheet. The pandemic started the increase and now inflation has kept it up there.

Groceries and gas are rising and taking all the associated services along for the ride.

I don't really get why the price of Water went up. I mean. Did they make some new advancements in water?
people are actually using less water and they are way more people using the same amount of water therefore they're able to Bill more for whatever water is used and yet the prices keep increasing every year? it's not like they've built more dams or reservoirs either.

and I really enjoy these commercials where we're having a torrential flooding or downpour and they're telling us to save water? Why? So California can maybe Import it?

Everything concerning Energy and the lack of it is all a farce. We have more and use less at least in North America. Even South america has been doing great.

even the gas prices are absolutely ridiculous when considering barrels of oil were just sitting around since consumption dropped all over the world.

we have more hybrid and electric cars than ever before and somehow? people are still trying to claim they're some kind of energy shortage...

they keep talking about the electrical grid not being able to keep up yet just a few years ago as I recall everyone still have incandescent light bulbs and their regular bills for those in power draw was at least ten times what it is for the LED equivalents.

And lets talk about Pizza Hut. 85 dollars for 3 pies? And they look like this bellow?
I have not had this in 8 years. Boy.. I should of not.. Paid extra for cheese. Still could not manage to cover the whole pizza. Delivery was in like 20 min of ordering. Whoa! But the pies? Only 1 of them was okay. The supreme and the CHEESE was HORRID!

Fragrnace: How on earth is a bottle of it so much these days? And its not even in nice bottle? Its not like these went up in value all that much?

Breakfast!
Minus gratuity, This cost me at a truck stop about 25 bucks.
I get things cost more. I'm fine with that. Thankfully, the service is top notch. But at Jubitz?
That means that you need to make more then 50 doll hairs an hour to just keep up with inflation!

While your Walmart shoes work for 20 years? Weird times we live in.

Lastly. Happiness. The price for it has seemed to gone up quite a bit.

Everything has as increased in price. Hotel rooms in vacation getaway areas are the worst. It's not over yet. Crude oil is up 6% today on account of the Ukraine, gasoline to follow in days.
