My Rockville BluTube amp was $129.00 and sounds better than most $1,000.00 solid state amps. How do I know this? $120 ain't much pain to drive Elac DBR62's. They shake the couch with Movies. Has tone controls. Mine is set -0.5 treble, +1.8 bass (range= + - 10). I like bass and Elac delivers.
Awesome. Most people that say DBR62 is boring never heard such speakers run with a tube system. It is scary real. Not missing my old B&W's, though they were very good also. CM5's.
Do you have tubes? I use a tube preamp for hi fi speakers. Not Polk or Klipsch, I mean neutral or monitor speakers. Not LS50 for example. Elac DBR62 are very good with tubes. Balanced sound. Just my opinion from the studio.
Tube preamp. Neutral speakers sound better with tubes. More loudness at low volume, more realistic sound at high volume. Musicians use tube amps. Ever wonder why? I use tubes. But not on v shaped speakers. Only monitors or reference speakers.
I have Elac DBR62 Reference speakers driven by a Rockville original Bluetube 70 watt hybrid tube amp. Love the sound, plenty deep to 35 htz (by live sound tests). No sub needed for me. Music and movies sound great. Cost with cables, $770.00. $80.00 for two stands. I have not heard the 606...
