I'm learning about EQ adjustments at the moment and have found several sources that seem to provide a decent starting point but I don't completely understand how they came up with their values or if a different balance suits different purposes? Is room correction different? Or maybe it doesn't...
The slim sub is a really cool form factor that I didn't know existed. But I've never heard them mentioned so I assumed they sound bad and make audiophiles sad. Maybe I should start a slim sub thread?
Neumann KH80 are $1460. So about three times the Audioengine. Probably a bit of a reach. I'm not even certain I'm the type of person who could really appreciate the KH80.
Polk S15, 50Hz frequency, many complaints of poor bass
IK Multimedia iLoud MTM, 50Hz frequency, universal praise
Are there any numbers I can read to understand the differences here? I understand they are different products but is bass not bass?
That list was not necessarily my top top. I think they were just sorted by the depth dimension at that time. I'll put the rest of it below, you might see something you like but haven't thought of. That Jamo speaker/sub combo is new. I don't think it will reach the level of quality I'm looking...
I actually contacted Vanatoo about it and got a nice explanation from Gary...
Thanks for your interest in Vanatoo products. Our lineup is currently only certified with regulatory agencies for sale in the US and Canada, which is required due to the speakers being powered.
Since we are not...
I would prefer not. I don't have anywhere to really put one. I wasn't going to say anything because I thought I might upset people too much but the form factor of this thing looks really interesting to me. It's the Jamo S 808 Subwoofer. I haven't looked past the product page yet.
Are those iLoud monitor even legal the way they are supposed to reach down to 50Hz? They only have 2x3.5" woofers! I thought there was no way to break the laws of physics, but here we are.
They're $1460 here I'd love to keep it no higher than about $750 including amp if I go that route. I might need to adjust my budget or my expectations.
I love the suggestions. There is definitely something funny going with pricing in my region though. iLoud, Genelec or Vanatoo would be perfect if not for the price. I don't mind spending more but I have to be getting some value back for my money and I just can't see it in those right now.
