Make sure you have rear inputs selected, The button all the way to the left should be blue. make sure its not muted and the volume is turned up.

I use a dx7s with balanced outputs to a pair of monitors and unbalanced outputs driving a powered subwoofer. It works great as a digital preamp, very flexible.
