You got the the new revision HD600 with a different paint scheme and cushion, enjoy mate.
Yes yes I know mine is HD600 2019 with new paint scheme but all the pictures of the new HD600 on net are with 4 cushion pads. Only mine has 2 which is weird. I can't find a single picture of HD600 2019 with 2 cushion pads. I've sent mail to sennheiser about that

The new paint scheme is there since 2019, the 650 headband padding since this month. My 600 has the new color and the old padding (although I swapped padding and cable with the 650 one). The parts are interchangeable.

I think that's because they are reducing the cost. Two part headband padding is cheaper

Apparently I've heard something about the earpads for the 600 series (including 650 I guess?) being a cheaper and inferior material now due to outsourcing. Stiffer and doesn't seal as well? However, the source link was a 4chan thread that 404's now, and I can't find any more info beyond that.

Anyone know anything about that?
It seems that they did change the earpads.

Official information is that's because they want to ensure the sound to stay pristine as long as possible.

Headband padding change is because of:
- cost saving
- process optimization
- easier assembly

I've bought new version few days ago. Earpads look identical as HD6XX I had. Although headband paddings are two part (like HD6XX, HD660s), not four part like old HD600.
Strange about the headband paddings. I also have the new HD600 (bought two months ago) and the headband paddings are exactly like the old ones.

Ah okay, that's the headband.

I had heard the earpads changed too.

They have. Most likely they will be made in China and are supposed to sound similar to the older ones.
They can be told apart when the pads are removed from the headphone.
I would not worry about this.

Any plans to get those pads and do some measurements to compare for certain?

Good to know. Hopefully Sennheiser's claims stay accurate when measurements are done.

Maybe if I run into them one day.
Not going to buy them as most likely the spare materials that Sennheiser stocked are still the old ones.

Likely old existing stock no?

Sennheiser themselves now sell shorter cables with 3,5 mm (1/8 inch) plugs for the 600 series as spare parts. Part No is 570679. This should be the same cable that comes with the Drop HD 58X/6XX.

I’m wondering if they’re planning to sell the balanced version as well (2.5mm TRRS).

If so, it would be ten times the price, like the Pentaconn cable, which is sold for 199 EUR. You're likely better off buying a 660s and selling it without the cable.

I was rather thinking about the Drop cable. It's $50 and a PITA to have it shipped in Europe so it would have been nice to see it sold by Sennheiser directly... but I'm not even sure they are the ones manufacturing it in the first place.
