Someone, when I asked, "What do you think?"

Replied, "I don't listen intellectually."

Bummer... you'd better start watching lots of pr0n then instead of listening to music. Unless audiophile pr0n is a thing?

My darling asked "Can I put a plant on that, and other thingies". Thinks for a millisecond....about the fact that Tannoy Ardens are about the same size as a 50" TV, except rotated... answers; "yes dear. of course you can just dangle the plant tendrils down the side and make sure nothing leaks". Everyone happy? Yes. I can now safely wake her bolt upright with a bit of Alesso from Tomorrowland, late at night :)

With the expression of someone who was hoisting up a dead and decaying mouse by the tail she answered, "well, ...................they are ...........okaaaayyyyy....maybe. Can we just put them up right against the wall like a room divider or something?"
Noted in passing: What is the point of a room divider placed right up against a wall?

Getting rid of my Monoprice Subs and putting my better ones in the living room, my roommate actually said the newer ones are "too small" "I can sell them and get some bigger ones if you want, but the neighbors won't like it"

I had a few over the years:

Work colleague drops round to pick up a monitor;

'Those loudspeakers are ridiculous, why do they have to be so big?'

My mother comes round to visit, spies some B&W 601 speakers on stands:

'I like those lamps, where did you get them?'

Friend drops round with a pal of his, I am listening to vinyl:

Pal - 'This sounds good, I am thinking of getting a turntable. what do you recommend that's not too expensive?'
Me - 'A Technics SL1200.'
Pal - 'The Technics SL1200 is a DJ deck - you won't get a proper hi-fi sound like this from an SL1200.'
Me - 'Err....this is a Technics SL1200 you're listening to right now.'
(He had to get up and walk over to check).

Tube amp designer drops round:

Him - 'This sounds good, what tubes does the amp use?'
Me 'None, it's solid-state.'
Him - 'Oh - must be class A then.'
'Me - 'Guess again.'

I sold some Maggies to a fellow once. His wife came with him to load them in the van. He had been telling her how they weren't like other speakers and she would like them. He brought her in to see them asking, "so what do you think, these look nice don't they". With the expression of someone who was hoisting up a dead and decaying mouse by the tail she answered, "well, ...................they are ...........okaaaayyyyy....maybe. Can we just put them up right against the wall like a room divider or something?"

Another time selling yet another pair of Maggies, and the wifey said, "these and cats don't mix I can see that right now."

That part about Maggies and cats is probably correct :D.

The second one was not wrong...

"Those Genelec sound really good." (8030C)
"True, but it's my DIY speakers playing right now." (broad-band 150€ / pair fed by SMSL AD18, also used as Genelec stands)

Landlords girl friend in my workroom: "Hey, your DIY speakers sound really great, wonderful bass". (Kef rebuilt of the LS3/5). Me:"'No, just playing are the tiny Genelec 8020 besides the computer monitor."

Colleague in my 50 sqm living room, after switching from K&H O300D to Genelec 8020: "You forgot to switch off the sub". Me: "The sub is off". He: "No, it's working, I hear it." Me: "Just put your ear to the sub if you don't believe me.". He did - and made big eyes.

That part about Maggies and cats is probably correct :D.

From personal experience, it is certainly correct. And in the old days, they weren't supposed to be in front of a window due to sunlight causing deterioration in the drivers. Certainly was a placement conundrum.
