Those are called Chladni figures. Ernst Chladni wrote one of first formal books on acoustics in the early 1800s.

Thr name of the video is based on the book Cymatics by Hans Jenny, who coined the term in the 1960s. The content is more mysticism than science, but interesting. It's a similar sort of thing: making sound visible by using vibrating surfaces.
