I just bought a new Roku TV and would like to hook it to my speakers.

TV = tcl 55s425-ca.
This has audio outputs:
- analog - the usual headphone jack, likely without volume control
- digital 1 - looks like a TOSLink
- digital 2 - HDMI ARC - new to me, but sounds promising.

My speakers are Tannoy Reveal 602. These are powered speakers, which require balanced input via XLR.

For my past TV's I ran everything off a Mac Mini and used the USB output to a Presonus Audiobox USB, which was the DAC and volume control.
That solution won't work any more.

Ideally, I would prefer to control the volume from the remote, hence use the HDMI ARC.

Does anyone know of a solution that would allow HDMI ARC input, that ends up as XLR (Balanced) output?
Emotiva XDA is one that I think would work?

I'm not looking to split hairs here for which DAC is the absolute best. Rather just one that works as above

Thanks for the help!

Very very likely with volume control.
You might simply try to drive the Tannoy from the headphone out unbalanced.

No, DACs with a HDMI input are rare, very rare.
Don't think the XDA sports HDMI

Check if the TV Toslink out allows for volume control

So try something like this first? Which is only $14.
Not sure if the TV will output enough to drive the speakers (0.775 v input needed)

Otherwise I found a DAC, that TOSLink input and XLR output

Thanks for the ideas!

Try, $14 won't break the bank
0.7 V needed? TV might be to hot!
