Hi guys, I currently have a 5.1 system.
I would like to upgrade to 5.1.4 because I want to install 4 atmos speakers on the ceiling.
Which AVR do you recommend? I use 50% music and 50% movies

If you’re not using an external amplifier, the 4500 has more power and is likely a better choice. Whatever advantages the 3600 has as Amir tested will likely be overshadowed by not having enough power on tap in the 3600. It’s pretty much up to your listening levels, room setup, and speaker efficiency to decide between the two.

In my opinion, if you are going to amplify all 9 channels without using an external power amplifier, depending on the sensitivity and impedance of your speakers, that extra power is going to be very useful, it could be essential.

Realistically how much power do you need to drive an Atmos speaker vs a front or central speaker?

Don't rule out the X3700H.

The power difference is so small it’s irrelevant.
But there are other features that make the 4700 stand out. Auro 3d, AL32 processing, nicer looks, dual speaker preset mode (2 settings of speakers supported), the ADI Griffin Lite DSP from the 8500, etc.

VRR, QTF & ALLM for gaming
The connection section leaves nothing to be desired and even delivers HDMI 2.1 for 8K / 60p and 4K / 120p signals
The AVC-X4700H is therefore perfectly equipped for the next generation of consoles (PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X) and for the PC graphics cards with HDMI 2.1 that will hopefully be released soon. In addition to the video processing of 8K / 60p and 4K / 120p, other important features such as Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Quick Frame Transport (QFT), and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) are also on board!

Thanks everyone for the answers.
Many recommend the 4000 series.
I intend to amplify all 9 channels without using an external amplifier.
The x4700h has only recently been on the market. I am afraid of not finding discounts. For this I would like to purchase the x4500h.

It’s more expensive to buy a 4500 and realise later that you need the hdmi 2.1 or any of the other features.

Most shops deliver the 4700 with a small discount, expect to pay 1350-1400 euros.
