I just wonder what ADC/DAC chip is in there.
On the online, There is no answer about it So I opened my 8351B.

After all the processes, I realized that the chip is just in back panel..But I'm satisfied to see what's in there. Anyway, the chip is AKM AK4621EF. Not so high end chip but fairly good. And the Condenser used in power supply(Samwha) is from South Korea (my country)! I'm so glad to see it!

Although there was a problem that wind noise occurs after reassemble but finally I found the cause and everything is okay :)

If there are anyone who want to disassemble Genelec, please care about the BOLTS!

The bass drivers are super narrow, it looks it on the spec but even more marked when you see them.

Interesting port, curved and ended with a cloth, I presume to reduce turbulence and noises?

I hope that so much but I don't have any proper measurement equipment.
How do you like the sound of your 8351B’s? I’m saving to get a pair for my main system and use them as mid fields, about 3 meters from listening position. I ordered a pair of 8030C for my office system and to get a sense of Genelec’s sound compared to my Purifi + SB Acoustics passive speakers combo.

I’m also considering the 8341A and 8350A. These monitors are not cheap... I’m hopping to find speakers I won’t be tempted to upgrade/sidegrade for at least 5 years, hopefully longer.

Could you please share your subjective impressions? How’s your setup? Do you use the analog or digital inputs?

The best part of 8351B is natural sound.

I heard recently a few same price range monitors.
Barefoot MM27,26, Kii Audio Kii 3.

Each speakers are great indeed. They all have very detailed sound as you expect. But the point I focus is unexaggerated sound charactor.

At some points other speakers may sound greater than 8351B. For example kii 3 is tight and accurate by dsp phase correction and barefoot has powerful sub bass that can generate down to 20hz.
As overall sound, I think 8351B has more natural realistic sound.

8341A is also good speaker. But if you listen at 3m from the speakers, 8341A may lack the max output level especially in bass range not using subwoofer.

And I have heard 8250 though not 8350.
Compared to 8250, 8351B has more openness ,wide sound image and detailed transient.

My signal path is simple.
Macbook - RME ADI2 Pro FS - digital or analog output - 8351B, 7370A.
Between Digital and Analog output I cound feel only a little difference. Logically I think digital output has more advantage for dsp speakers. Unless you need any analog coloration.

I think Genelec is 10 years ahead than other.
8351B will satisfy you more than 5 years.

Often they use rags and bits of polypropylene cloth to keep insects and creatures out of the electronics. Very common that cockroaches will nest, breed, destroy and cause fires in active speakers. We also get geckos which can make a real mess on 230V exposed wire.

An exposed port is like a vacancy sign to creatures. :)

I've removed small childrens' fake tools from inside stuff too. Upon advising and billing the father we had a chuckle.
