It's been done a few times here in Sweden. The company Rauna most of all, here's one model (think it's the "Njord")

Also one of our largest construction companies (houses, road etc) that's called Skanska had a short stab at it once; the Cheops:

Heard these once and for a first attempt by someone not in this business at all, they sounded surprisingly good actually. Reason for that is that the designer was Stephan Wänqvist, who is the designer behind the speaker company Audio Pro these days.

More deceptive advertising.
Why do they call them "wireless" when there's still a need for a power cord? :eek:;)

Do you also expect your wireless router to be without a power cord?

:D No, but a speaker? Wireless infers to folks it's "wireless". Yea it removes a speaker wire or interconnect attachment to the source, but then it adds a power cord to deal with. What's the difference. LOL
Now a battery powered bluetooth speaker, that's wireless. (until it needs to be charged) ;)

Speaking of Tesla, you beat me to it Nightlord, you could buy one of those powerwall batteries from Musk for each speaker. Then wireless and cordless. Of course Sal might complain there is still wire in the voice coil. :rolleyes:

Hey Quad ESL63s have more wire than any speaker. Wasn't it something like 13 miles per speaker for the delay coils?

Ah, duh, I forgot, it's all about Sal... :D

Actually I knew a guy ages ago who did build a battery stack for his ESLs to prevent "dirty" wall power from reaching them... It was pretty crazy, something like 25 x 48 V batteries for each one.

Yeah. But, a big battery, maybe? Gotta keep Sal happy.
Those Powerwalls are big batteries. I think you can get one up to 14 kwh sizes and you can get more than one. ESLs require very little to stay energized anyway. Not even an amp of current at 120 volts.

"Will my electric bill go ‘sky high’ by leaving my speakers plugged in all the time?

No. A pair of reQuest ESLs draw about 5 watts maximum and employ a music signal
sensing power supply which turns off when you are not using the system."

2.5W = 0.02083A @ 120V
