This could solve Global Warming.

At least, there won't be anyone left to worry about it.

Just got my heating bill today. I wish it heard about glow-bull-warming.

The saga continues...another "martial law exercise" as of 1 hour ago:

Yunmeng County (wiki), is a county in eastern Hubei province. It has a population of 524,799 (as of 2010).

Interesting enough...I'm not seeing anyone else reporting these.
I checked CNN (US), CBC (Canada) and ABC (Australia) and no one is even mentioning these.

Its strange as though most of the Western media doesn't seem to be reporting on such "little things", its actually all over the national TV news within China. At least that's what the Chinese nationals working around me are telling me.

This is worse than 2003 SARS

There's public panic, cease of productions, service industries hammered, no consumption coz everyone's going crazy after medical supplies and PPE, no shows no concerts no productions, entertainment cutoff, no teachings no private classes, govnt office and venues not working, bank branches closed, even constructions have to be put on hold to make sure all workers are OK

The world is about to find out how reliant it is on China.

The biggest factor is that this is way, way more infectious than SARS. And has a wide window of dormancy.

Mortality rates of around the 2% mark is still very high as far as transmissible viruses go. Imagine a country with 2 million possibly ending with 40,000+ deaths !

They try to prevent panic worldwide so just publish 'official' numbers. Economy, 'hamstering', empty stores, having no idea what to do with hundred thousands that should need medical help. Fear to give folks a glimpse what might be happening in the rich west.
Hospitals can't even handle a normal stream of sick people let alone hundred/thousands in tightly populated areas that need isolation.

Regardless whether or not the virus came to existence by accident or manipulation in the only Chinese P4 lab (which has been slapped in the past for being a dangerous lab) that happens to be in Wuhan. It may have escaped by accident or being released by some sick individual.
We will never know.

Releasing something like this on purpose to lower the overcrowded planet (and then try to contain it in China) without having the ability to inoculate important folks would be stupid so either released by accident or natural ? it doesn't matter.

It will go globally, just a matter of time. A percentage will die. Possibly infants, elderly and people with poor health/other ailments. Many will survive. Economy will return to normal again and life will continue as usual in a year or so.

Anyone know how reliable Radio Free Asia is ?

But Su Ih-jen, infectious diseases expert at Taiwan's National Institutes of Health, said the real number of infections in China is likely at least 500,000, given that the majority of coronavirus patients in and around Wuhan haven't been able to access medical care to achieve a diagnosis.

Extrapolating the number of infections aboard a sealed environment like the Diamond Princess cruise ship currently quarantined in Japan, Su said Wuhan, also a quarantined environment, should be seeing an infection rate of around five percent, which would add up to 500,000 people.

Its a US Govt. funded operation. It has a lot of awards from US professional journalism organizations. It looks to be reputable enough that North Korea jams it (except when the power grid is down).

Great news...as of approx 5 hours ago:

The MS Westerdam, was carrying 1,455 passengers and 802 crew.
These passengers spent two weeks at sea after being turned away by five countries.

It docked in the Cambodian port town of Sihanoukville on Thursday.
It had anchored offshore early in the morning to allow Cambodian officials to board and collect samples from passengers with any signs of ill health or flu-like symptoms.
After tests, no one on board was found to be carrying the virus, Cambodia's health ministry said.

Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen welcomes a passenger (photo below):

Give Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen a medal for getting these people back to their families, when 5 other countries declined!

Huge mortality rate I would say... 1/3 of infected people just die.

The mortality rate is much higher than 2%. Those who die now have been sick for a while when the number of infected was much smaller. I'm willing to say it's around 10%.
