If you don't know him, Philip is super friendly, speaks with wonderful accent, and really, really knows his music down to what temperature it was when the recording was made. :D

Wow, what a performance. While many manufacturers were suffering with small rooms, Phillip had this huge room again and boy did he do justice to his brands. The sound was grand, super dynamic and extremely satisfying. For the first time, I get what the buzz is about with Giya speakers. :)

Philip was kind enough to give me his demo CD which I then used to compare other systems. Only the Wilson/VTL room could do justice to it and provide similar performance.

First track was an orchestral one that Philip said would be released from Channel Classics next year. Wish I knew the title. He mentioned it but not being a classical music person, I could not remember (Budapest something). :)

When The Levee Breaks by Tim Pierce, Vanessa Fernandez, WB Music Corp, OBO Flames Of Albion Music. http://shz.am/t330828896

Absolutely superb.

The woofer was side lit so I could see them go nuts at the start even though I could not hear much bass! Seems to be some infrasonic content in there, intended or not.

Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin. http://shz.am/t5198507

LP version.

He said this was recorded by Michael Fremmer???

Sounded quite dynamic in pure fidelity I don't much care for LP sound. The highs were somewhat "cooked" and crisp.

Based on their ad-copy and the appearance of the lower mid-range dustcap, I'd guess G4

The pair Philip had a RMAF are definitely G3's and not G4's. In your pics the pair of G3's Philip is leaning on have the grills on as does the pair of G4's in your comparison pics. The G3's in your comparison pics do not appear to have the grills on. This may be what leads you to believe that the pair at RMAF might be G4's. Actually Philip never imported G4's.

I'm looking at the apparent diameter of the dustcap relative to the diameter of the driver on G3 vs G4.

I wasn't there, never seen one, never heard one, not lusting for one.

But I would also think Mr Savage (as an owner) would recognize the difference, so, I had to look.

I could, of course, be wrong.

ok boys, room made them look small I guess..

They are indeed g3's I went and stood by mine to check but also the distance fron the tweeter to the top of the speaker is a dead giveaway..

Unless your a idiot like me :D

Amir,
The Mahler 3, first movement was from a session recording by Tom Caulfield for Channel Classics which which might be released in DSD256 in both stereo & multi-channel. Channel Classics normally records in DSD64. While Jared Sacks normally records with 24 microphones in DSD64, Tom only used 5 microphones in an ITE configuration (similar to a DECCA tree). There was no equalization, sweetening applied to this recording yet.
Ivan Fischer conducted the Budapest Festival Orchestra at the Bela Bartok National Concert Hall in Budapest. Playing this recording at home on the Giya G1, we can clearly hear that the winds are 20' away from the listener, while the bass drum blows past the walls at 50' away. The sense of space is extremely well captured, not only from the L to R, but the sense of depth is staggering.

BTW, lovely photos

Philip
P.S. Great meeting you in person. Let me know if you need the high rez files of Demo XVIII

Thanks a lot for the details Philip. And it was as always a pleasure to see you in person. Thanks for the great music and yes, would love to have the high-res version of the demo CD!
