For those looking for decent budget, powered speakers, Adorama has a set offer for the JBL 306p MkII. US$259 for the pair with 2x 10 feet of XLR cables.

https://www.adorama.com/jb306pmkiia.html
Those speakers, crossed over to a pair of subs at around 60hz, have been my daily drivers for a few months now. Pinpoint detail and imaging, unparalleled for the price as far as those aspects go. Focused dispersion so sort of a "headphones" sound which can be good or bad. The tweeters are maybe not the sweetest or smoothest but by are no means harsh.

While I have mine crossed over to subs, subs are by no means required. Satisfying extension down to the 40hz range and probably a bit into the high 30s. Plenty of fun for most music.

Overall they are super enjoyable.

Today Woot is offering very good used Echo Inputs for $10, with free shipping if you have Amazon Prime. The Input is functionally an Echo Dot without a speaker. It works by connecting to a powered speaker/audio system through its 3.5mm stereo analog output or Bluetooth. I am posting here because for those who primarily listen to Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, or a few other streaming services, it provides the cheapest way I know of to stream music wirelessly without tying up your phone. Built in Mic, so full Echo Assistant/Intrusion functionality...but you can turn off the mic.

Most of the time these sell for $35, (strange as that is what Echo Dots often sell for). Currently and frequently Amazon sells them for $20 new, so this is half that.

If you have not collected old stock Chromecast Audios this is a cheap alternative that does some, but not all, of the same things. Notably you cannot stream your music files, or unsupported services like Tidal. If course, if you talk to your Chromecast Audio it does not tell your the weather or turn off the lights. This is the cheapest I have heard of a device of this type.

Oh, the joys and travesty of being somewhere in the world that is not the US. I would sincerely also like to buy the LSR705P, but sadly these deals are only available in the US. If you use a re-shipper it's technically possible, but what happens then is there's the international shipping, plus 19% Tax (here in Germany) PLUS customs (that gets calculated from the price including the shipping)... and Tada! The amazing deal isn't so amazing anymore.

So... enjoy your 705Ps and 708Ps. (sobbing). ;)

Yeah...that's too tough to pass up. I've been looking at the 708's and the 705's, so a pair of both are on their way. Interested in how they compare to my LS50's. They might look good behind a theater screen...
Thanks for the heads up.

708p's came today.
These will be keepers.

Holy Headroom Batman...

First impressions from a couple of hours of listening, after getting them 'first stab' set up and meshing with my 2 subs through my Integra 80.3 using balanced out, which uses Audyssey MultiEQ XT32... Mostly playing through the D70, XLR in to the processor.

I have nothing bad to say so far. These just make me want to keep turning them up louder. No noticeable distortion or nasties I could find, and I ran out of pain threshold long before these showed any stress.

Yeah...I think I can settle into these for a while... They are just making me smile.

Thanks again for the post.

I also have the 705p's coming...because that was a crazy good price.

Nobody has mentioned the Integra processors and AVR's, but they might be worth a look as well.

I haven't received mine yet. Just wondering - what is the condition of your speakers, as "B-stock"?

There's a new ' reference' jonesy Elac coming out next month priced about £500.....

It will be interesting to see how the trade war/tariff stuff plays out in speaker prices. The Christmas inventories must be in the boats now.

An odd deal for those in the U.K. 1More just release a tiny and cheap Bluetooth Waterproof Speaker under the OmThing brand. The Omthing Mini Chub is selling at an intro price of $27 in the U.S. but just $10 shipped on U.K. Amazon. I had one shipped to me before Amazon U.S. had them. Sound is fine for the size, with DSP/Passive Radiator/Neodymium driver...not really for music but built like a tiny tank. Note this is not the larger 1More branded speaker that is being released soon. I think from price history the Omthing is designed to sell for $25-$30.

I couldn't find what made them B models... One did come with a much different, and thinner and shorter, power cord...so I'll ask them for an original. I'm guessing some of these are returns?

Either way...couldn't be happier with these so far. Tomorrow I will try to get into REW and see what damage I can do.

It is great to hear that! Can't wait mine (705) to come tomorrow. From the spec, they are even smaller than the 305s. That will be great as I plan to put them on my working desk :D
