Add one, I've already measured my car and have eq applied my phone to correct for its issues. Would love to see some measurements of drivers since there never are any, suggestions on mounting, etc.

It´d be fun to make an ASR bumper sticker saying "panther on board! High horse power, even higher SINAD!"

There are a lot of areas where measurements would be useful. Sound dampening is one. Car acoustics is another. Another vote for such a forum (though given the time since the original post, I am guessing it isn't going to happen).

I just found in a box of car audio stuff an active crossover. It's an old Sherwood unit. Here are some pictures. I wonder how it would measure... 20221028_203736.jpg20221028_203730.jpg20221028_203721.jpg20221028_203715.jpg20221028_203704.jpg20221028_203648.jpg

I've been into car audio for 28 years. My first car Freshman in college had Pioneer 6x9's on a 18 watt x2 mini Pioneer amp. Now I have a 12 inch Kicker Comp Q class power by RF Prime 1200.1. I like low end at home and in the car. I've never been obnoxious with my system though.

The best Car Hi-Fi Power Amplifier can make all the difference in listening to music while driving. Not only does it provide more power and clarity to your favorite tracks, but it also improves the sound quality of the entire audio system in your car

I could but I'm sure they have more pressing matters to attend to. It would be interesting to see how it measured though...

I'd be most interested in seeing current designs measured. JL Audio, Alpine, Rockford fosgate and others seem to use Audio Precision analyzers (and klippels) to validate their gear. The problem is they don't publish their measurements.

Well, I can tell you that at Rockford and jl (seen both) have an ap device at nearly every workstation.
I know Rockford and jl have klippel too. You can watch their factory tour videos and see them.

I remember @amirm tested a car amp I think it was and he said it was fun as he showed off his snazzy new DC power supply system. Perhaps @amirm is a good place to start with, "Is mobile/car audio going anywhere at ASR?"
Actually AMIRM tested several pieces of car audio gear, some of which was pretty good vintage, showing that a particular piece had a good reason for having had a good reputation back in the day. I will be looking to putting a car audio system into my 2000 Nissan Extended Cab truck in 2024. right now I am restoring my home, getting the audio setup again and getting a TV for the first time since 2007.

Car systems have been multi amping and using all kinds of crossovers, DSP and other forms of manipulation some of which may benefit home users.
The Pioneer dual 4 Ohm voice coil 12" sub speakers that I use in my sub cabs in my home came from the car audio world.
Their clamed FR is 20Hz to 80Hz, right in the zone that I need them in my home.

Right the problem is that they don't post comprehensive results for their electronics.

JL, Alpine (Maybe Rockford, probably Helix, probably plenty of class D rebrands) have been producing class D amps that rival a top tier home amplifier or at least a decade but looking into the specifications there's absolutely no literature about what you're getting. I went with some audiofrog amps which are probably rebrands mostly because for their form factor they were the only amplifiers that had a published test suite. Poor S/N or noise rejection performance is a big headache when running active speakers.

They do seem to do a better job with publishing speaker large signal parameters--if its a subwoofer and if the subwoofer is at a premium price.

I have always been an Alpine fan. Just for the weight of the unit. I have never had issues with any of the name brands. The only issue I
has was thieves. I learned quick that the sleeper rules the road unless you could keep your ride under lock and key and never leave it
at a rest stop. I'm an old Pan Dragger. I like my rides very old and very low.

What I drive and use every day is a 2003 Toyota Camry. It has zero in the way of looks other than tinted window, wider tires, and a great
suspension. (now).

I did add 3 HD class D 4000w @ 4ohm stereo amps, cap bank, heavy # 4/4 SOOW cable from the battery (up front) to the trunk.
The stock speakers were replaced with Comp speakers and a 10" sub was added. All four doors, the trunk lid and trunk were dampened with
good dampening material. I did use expanding foam in a few place that were noisy. Kick panels can pick up a lot of road noise along with floor
pans. I doubled the dampening material and added a dense wool mat. It is as quiet as any car I've ever rode in. I added a 200amp alternator
from the 55amp stock.

It is a nice sounding unit for around 1500 total. The 10" was a Dayton HO 10/44. I'm a retire heavy equipment mechanic. I installed some pretty
nifty stereos in excavators, loaders and even a pilling rig. It's nice but I still like my stereo in my room. I just had a 48 hour marathon of nothing
but blues and valve equipment. It sure got toasty.. LOL
