Best to go with digital usb to DAC. If DAC has volume control then to pure power. You should be able to find a good used power amp at a reasonable price.

There are usually quite a lot of reconditioned/serviced 606's for around EU500 - out of the UK

also 405's, 707's, 909's - with various levels of upgrades and mods... there is an entire community around these, their maintenance and upgrades!)

I have two 606's currently unused - due to the Crowns being more suitable to my current speakers - but they are damn good amps, and I am sure I will find another use for them at some stage. - 1 is original and still running to spec, the other had a refurb that I organised about 15 years ago...
Also look at Dada in Holland - they specialise in Quad restorations and upgrades...

Here's another argument in favour of a European Purify build. You will never need a better amp. You will never need to sell it.

Resale value becomes irrelevant.

A counter argument:

An amp like the classic Quad's 405/606/707/909 - can easily and simply be repaired, restored, refurbished - relatively inexpensively - a Purify/Hypex/ICE based amp, is realistically non-repairable, repairs are acheived by replacing the entire amp module! - that makes the repair almost the same cost as a new amp - they are effectively a throw-away item - I am not convinced of their long term credibility...

Having said that, my Crown class-D's have been running for circa 15 years now.... but once something fails on these, I know they will be boat anchors, destined for landfill.

My 35 year old Quad 606's, one of them needed a refurb.... which it received around 15 years ago ( a couple of years before I bought the Crowns) for a couple of hundred $ ...

Some amps exist within an environment of maintainability and repairability, with keen specialists all over the world happy to refurb them when needed. Others require specialist restorers to keep them going longer term, and those restorations cost more than a new current technology replacement... labors of love, with little financial logic to them.
The Class-D amps are in the latter category, the Quad amps are in the former category (along with a handful of other brands).

Stock of 3700H has become scarce as they have already announced the new X3800 - what is out there in the shops is the last of the 3700's - the new 3800's should be arriving in the next 2 to 3 months I expect...

Don't know what is available in your region.

The new Denon's will have the option of installing Dirac (at additional cost), the specifications for both the new Denon's and the new Marantz models have both been published now.

Based on measurements - the Denons / Marantz and the Onkyo's / Integra / Pioneer are all pretty decent in terms of preamp, DAC, DSP - their amps are OK running easy to run efficient speakers - but not so great if the speakers are low efficiency, and more importantly, low impedance, requiring a lot of current.
Best alternative (and what a lot of people do), is to us the AVR to run surround and height speakers, but use it as a prepro with external power amps on the Front L/R, and possibly the C too. (I run an Integra DRX 3.4, with external amps powering L/C/R)

You would not be running pure analogue - one of the advantages of using an AVR for stereo music, is that the Room/Speaker EQ allows you to resolve some issues that are otherwise very difficult to overcome (without custom building the entire listening room!)

Depending on the USB DAC and its output -and level controls

Many DAC's effectively have a built in preamp - and can drive power amps directly - for a very simple and "pure" stereo setup!

Combine such a USB DAC with a refurbished Quad 606 (around 135W@8ohm) - or other similar power amp, and you have a very nice minimalist system

Make sure you match the power amp input to your DAC's output... 1st gen Quad 606 were 500mV for full rated power out, 606mkII were 700mV, standard for consumer components is usually 1V, and for professional amps 1.4V - but some power amps require 2V or even up to 4V for full rated power out...

So this should be checked! - I never had an issue with the 500mV 606, but when it went in for refurbish, I had it upgraded to mkII status, and dropped the sensitivity to 700mV - my pre/AVR can drive up to 3.5V out cleanly... so raising the input sensitivity on the power amp made no discernible difference - but it may have reduced the noise floor marginally....

The buyer of my muso today
denied to buy it, for 1000$
so i am very sad today..

so i am still waiting for some models of amps etcs. so i can get the best for my high end new kef r3
5 years warranty

I think krell and mark levinson and accuphase already lost their value and even if they are old
their value wont go further down what do you think or something else which can hold value used?

i have found 3 new places where i can find denon if they agree to ship to me so i emailed them today.
I will update everyone if the deal happens, what cables i should get. is the bi amp gimmick or worth it should i buy separate amp?

I have found these new amps, are they any good ?

Cyrus ONE Cyrus 3rd generation Hybrid Class D amplifier – outputs 2 x 100W (into 8 Ω at 0.1% THD+N)

Cyrus ONE HD Cyrus 4th generation Hybrid Class D amplifier – outputs 2 x 100W (into 8 Ω at 0.1% THD+N)

should i consider them cheaper than denon 2 times,

are these reliable with good resale value etcs?
Any suggestions are welcomed. they also have streaming option for one hd at least i see

How much worse is their sinad compared to my favourite Denon?
I have not seen independent testing.

Manufacturer specs are 0.1% thd at rated 100w power... that is Sinad = 60

But it might do better at 5W ...

The brand is reputable, and a number of very well regarded amps have similar thd specs... so it is hard to tell.

Denon is sinad is 101w, and due tho the fact that i want to play my speakers as loud as possible i think denon is better option
denon also have thd
THD: 0.08%, 2 ch. driven which is better, i will use it in 2 channels, so i will spend more to get the denon for now.
i already have junk receiver/amplifier which i can use always my old 90s rca victor jvc. it have 70w rms to power speakers.
yes they doesnt write number and specs if they are junk.

This review doesn't seem optimistic - those are quite high THD figures, and well above manufacturer specs:

So they lie to people and provide bogus fake specs,

Is denon reliable, with real specs of they are with bogus specs as well regarding 2 channels? Denon is class d junky class

Amir has tested some of the AVR's - and the Denon's do rate very well - don't know how well the measurements compare to the claimed specs ... look in the Review index.

The Denon's were on my short list, but the Integra was about 30% cheaper here in Australia, and I wanted to try Dirac rather than give Audyssey another go after 15 years of disappointment with it. (and I have been very happy with Dirac!)
