Looking at the first graph, and seeing the lounging panther made my head explode. Being forced to use EQ to make a product work means the product is flawed. It's like having to use salt on a gourmet meal. No Bueno.

That level of variation is unacceptable for such an expensive product.

I don't see these variations in the measurements. I heard two pairs and both were just worse tuned but easier to drive version of the HD600.

I think these are really overpriced. The HD 600 is probably my favorite headphone, yet even that is overpriced compared to technically similar models from other manufacturers. This thing is even more expensive, approaching prices of much superior headphones like the Edition XS.
Just doesn‘t make sense to buy unless it‘s significantly discounted.

With respect frequency response it seems the HD 650 would be the better choice.

From what I understood the revision was planned and still under development about half a year ago.
No changes from day one except the pads (which is not a real revision).

I think the HD660S is a good sounding headphone. Should be priced between € 300 and € 350 or so. When it came out it sold for € 500.-
Seriously, how could they justify that, given that it's just a development of the 600 & 650, nothing radically new?

If one compares hd600, hd6xx, hd650, hd660s, hd560s and r70x, r70x is best in overall tonality, comfort , smoothness. r70x has angled drivers, helping in imaging further. Only gripe can be the circular opening of pads which can be a problem for some with bigger ear lobes. To me it is end game with mojo 2 and tiny eq.
I noticed the New Flamenco guitar player Jesse Cook uses them. One of the reviewers described R70x as boring and uninspiring (?). Others describe them as smooth, tonally correct, with good image.

Once again, @amirm saved me money. No need to upgrade my 6XX from what I see here.

I paid $299 for my HD660s last year over Amazon during the a flash sale. I got them cheaper than the 650s :)

Thanks for another great headphone review @amirm
Looks like I'll be hanging on to my HD650 for another decade or so. ;)

It's like phone reviews, where people say "this isn't much different to the last phone". Yes, you're not supposed to buy every phone a manufacturer brings out! I bought this to replace my HD 595. It's a bit better than those headphones!

My brother is new to better audio, was fed up with what he had, and I suggested Jds Element III and one of the Senn 6 series. He got the 660s and the Element and was shocked at the sound, as in tearing up on first impression with a good recording he loved and knew well.

I think we get jaded and carried away with what is good enough/not good enough around here. Every one of the Senn 6 phones is perfectly great. Eq is nice, but not required for them at all.

@amirm No more earpad physical dimension measurements?
No. I stopped that. I can restart the weight if you want but dimensions of oddball cups doesn't make sense. And it is work measuring them.
